The War Update: Soldier & Demoman Update Confirmed!

Oh, god. This is gonna be so crazy when there is like 8 soldiers or demomans on the team. Like every other update.
 
Demos I can deal with. They've got to be right underneath, and then I just throw a little piss at them and my teammates take care of it pretty quick. Soldiers always do it. It's like they have a routine. Burn a clip at me, jump off the battlements.
 
I can already tell the Soldier is going to utterly defeat the Demoman, but who knows? I got around fifty kills for the Demoman, and I know it's not a big amount, but it is a contribution nonetheless.
 
Soldier sitting on 51.8% of all counted kills, so it's still pretty close at this stage.
 
There was meant to be a new thing teased everyday yet there has been nothing teased for the 11th?
 
Are you sure they said it would start today? Because they did another blog post and didn't even mention it, so I'm guessing it's either gonna be up in an hour or two or it was never supposed to be started today.

Soldiers shouldn't be presenting you with too many problems.

Sure, in theory the airblast is a good counter to the rocket, but a good soldier aims for your feet. Playing pyro is all about getting up close and personal with your victims, and bumping into a soldier around a corner is never pleasant, even if you manage to kill him.

I tend to airblast them away and try to pick them off with minicrit flare gun hits while I backpedal while, of course, dodging rockets and switching back to the flamethrower to get in a few reflects. If that doesn't seem like a good idea, I try for an axetinguish (which is dangerous as they can still fire at my aforementioned feet).
 
You know you can still airblast it away when it's near your feet, right? Or you can use airblast + rocket aimed at your feet to rjump with the pyro, getting you within flamethrower range of the soldier.

That doesn't matter when I'm in a confined space, where my class is supposed to be. I'll still take damage from the explosion. Having less health than my opponent also means I will likely die. Then I can only hope he is too far away from a health kit to toddle over and completely negate all my effort. And that's assuming I ALREADY did enough damage to ensure death through afterburn if he isn't healed, which isn't always the case.

It's not worth it to reflect a rocket unless you're at least a few feet away.

On a side note I have reflect jumped before and managed to land an awesome axetinguish kill on the soldier who bombarded me. But then I died from some other explosive spam of some kind. Was still funny as hell.
 
Where is the new weapons they are going to reveal each day? all i see is a stupid competition lol.
 
Update comes out on the 17th, there is still plenty of time to announce maps/weapons/achievements/etc.

Wow, the nade and wocket spam was unreal yesterday on dustbowl stage 1. Red had 8 soldiers just spamming the spawn exits.

I know what you mean. I found a server that only allows soldiers on blue and demomen on red, also two medics per team. All of the explosions cause the screen to shake for minutes at a time.
 
I hope the unique items aren't anything too unbearably cool. I will probably die of jealousy. I like hats.
 
It's sort of dull that all those weapons can only be accessed after several months, if not years, of playing.
