I'm starting a project I was thinking about last night. It's my first, "major" project, so let me get on some details on what it's about.

The "We Want More Freeman" Project

What is it about?
-I'm going around the internet, all sorts of websites to get a large list of names who want some more information on Episode 3.

-I'm trying to form a website with a large image i'll make in photoshop with as many people as I can on it. Hopefully, we can get lots of players names.

How can I help?
-Ask friends if they want their name in the list, or if you know they are hardcore Half Life fan, feel free to tell me their name and I will add them to a list I have already made in notepad.

-Also, if you want, you can create a quote for Valve to read. It has to be a good quote and make sense. For example, a bad quote would be:

"We love you, and we want more ep3!"

A good quote would probably be something like:

"Valve, we have played and enjoyed the Half Life franchise, but we want something new."

-Also, if you have a server, feel free to advertise this project. We could use as many names as possible.

Donations
-I'm still not sure whether to do this or not, but if you want, I could start a PayPal or something for donations.

-If we DO do donations, ALL THE MONEY WILL GO TO VALVE

-If you don't like the idea of giving the money to Valve, feel free to reccomend something else to use the money for.

-----------------------------------------------------

Thats basically it. A large website with names of every person who wants some (new) information on Half Life. This is the only site I will put this up on, but I will put it up on more once I get some idea's from you guys. Just a few question I want to ask before continuing this project, in which I want you guys to answer:

Q: Should I continue with this project?
Q: Is there anything you want me to change about it?
Q: Do you want me to start a group on steam for this project?
Q: Do you think people will donate, if I impliment it?
Q: How many people do you think will want to put their names up?

Thanks for reading. You don't have to answer all the questions, maybe one or two. I could use some help with the template for the site.
You know the badge thing I made for the Freeman Greatest Hero contest? Well I need a large template, kind of like the Team Fortress 2 Page's, but much larger. It has to be for photoshop, and I think I know someone where I can get one from.

For now, thanks, and please tell me if I should continue this to other sites.

Oh, I almost forgot. If you want your name added to the list, please use this format:

Fourm Name:
Steam Name:

If you want to add your friends name:

Steam Name:

--

Thanks, and I hope this project turns to be a successful one.

---

Edit 1: We got a template for the site! yay!
Feel Free to add your first name. Do not post your last name, because I don't want people in risk of anything.
Edit 2: I need reccomendations for websites to post this one. Facepunch is acting like the usual when I posted it, so I probably wont get anything out of them.
Edit 3: We have well over 100 people at the moment
Edit 4: JOin the Group: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/gotfreeman

Q: Should I continue with this project?
An important thing your post misses out is 'why'. Valve are going to make Episode 3, and while I'm sure they'd appreciate compliments on their games, I'm not sure telling them to hurry up and make Episode 3 is going to do anything. So, personally, I don't think so. As a gesture of support, maybe, but it seems incredibly pointless.
Q: Do you think people will donate, if I impliment it?
To who? Valve? I'm pretty sure they have sufficient funding. And donating to someone else seems... Odd.

I've convinced myself everyone at Valve are just sitting there, heads on their desks, tapping their fingers, trying to think of a new idea now that they've used all the good ones up in the past HL2 episodes.

In other words they'll say something when they have something to say.

From what I can gather - rather hazily at that - this effort appears not so much determined to make Valve hurry up with the development process itself, but to perhaps strengthen certain communication ties between them and the audience.

Feel free to jump down on me on that, though. :bounce:

No, I don't think so. Pretty sure development has been underway for some time.

Your second example is basically as bad as the first.

Between this and the Left 4 Dead 2 boycott, I think we've finally descended to the level of Halo fans. The fanbase is broken, goodnight.

I believe this project is unnecessary because VALVe will reveal information about Episode Three eventually. Patience is key in this type of situation.
I'll answer all of your questions since I have the time to do so:

Q: Should I continue with this project?

I want to point out that when you say you want VALVe to reveal more news on Episode Three, you didn't specify WHEN you wanted it. Do you want it now, do you want it in a week, a month? Perhaps you should consider that before you start up a whole project that isn't needed, as I said before.

Q: Is there anything you want me to change about it?

I guess everything is fine, and it looks like you put a bit of effort into this, but the fact is: VALVe knows it's fans want information revealed to them about Episode Three. I'm sure there are many more projects similar to this one.

Q: Do you want me to start a group on steam for this project?

You could, but I'm not joining it.

Q: Do you think people will donate, if I impliment it?

No, because from what I have learned from my life experiences, people want things, but they're not willing to give anything special. Of course, there are people who are generous enough to donate to something like this, so I'm probably wrong.

Obviously you can continue with this since you've made a lot of progress with it, but it's not going to have a huge impact on VALVe.

Assume that your "project" works, we would be having a great disaster. Because Valve pushes a game out as quickly as possible to entertain fans' desire. It is not a good sign for game development. Valve has been a good game company BECAUSE the employees take their time in making the game, ensuring the games are well designed, well constructed and well tested. Episode 3 in particular, being the last installation of Freeman's adventure, it MUST NOT be rushed.

Valve knows everyone wants Episode 3. It's not like they're just completely ignorant about it.

they are just gigantic trolls.

Now, what's that word...

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Basically.

Between this and the Left 4 Dead 2 boycott, I think we've finally descended to the level of Halo fans. The fanbase is broken, goodnight.

That's because most of the Halo fans now play Half-Life, and think it's "tight how you can pick stuff up and stuff."

And Left 4 Dead. It sucks, truly.

zombies are fun to kill lol, im surprised there arent moar zombies games xD

Not good idea, let him take thier time and think more innovative ideas that can be implemented in the game. Let them make it a master piece, we will wait patiently, As long as when it comes its groundbreaking.

Yeah Left 4 dead is not that good, fun for awhile, so boring and repititive after, even for L4D 2, so Valve should focus more on thier big game.

Hmm i am a Halo fan also, but recently seen the magnificent game that is Half Life series, seriously blow me away. Well both games have thier strenghts and witnesses. Can't wait for HL-EP3, and to see Alyx again.......

Also I think HL fanbase is abit niche, how come these forums are not that active? did i join the official forums for everything Half-life?

Yes you did. Unfortunately, most of the members are grumpy old farts who have exhausted every little topic worth productive (and unproductive) discussion. You could say we're hibernating (in the Lounge forum) until they pull the cat out of the bag on Ep3.

It's a bad time for brand new forumites hoping for genuine discussion about the Half-Life franchise. The blizzard caused by Valve's silence has snowed in many of our members' desires for fruitful discussion, debates on the mythology of the series, and otherwise chit-chatting.

My advise? You want to speed up the process? You want Valve to release information, breaking their silence?

Kill yourself. We'll mail a finger to Valve after every month of no content releases.

Edit: OP is a bad idea.

I don't think its a case of Valve usually "delaying" their games and developing it further, like we've seen with all Half-Life related games. I think its more along the lines that they have postponed the development of Half-Life 2: Episode 3, because they are more concerned with the Left 4 Dead franchise (its way more popular with consolers and CASUALS)... since L4D2 is right around the corner (a game made by Valve), don't be surprised that L4D3, L4D4, LD5, L4D6, etc. come out before HL2: Episode 3.

A year ago we saw concept art, nothing since then, which was points of it being developed. It doesn't make much sense for info on the game to be in lockdown, unlike previous HL games and these L4D games. I don't believe Doug Lombardi for a second, until I see some info. My few cents.

Your few cents are wrong. Valve have a consistent track record of working on multiple games concurrently. Your assumption that development has been postponed is based solely on a lack of media expose on Ep3 - which can also be explained simply as "good marketing" for L4D2.
