The what American accent do you have quiz

The description for "Midland" should say "Congratulations! You're mediocre."

Canadian.

People from outside North America probably think you're from the States, but over here we wouldn't make such a mistake.

Wrong. I say queue, schedule as shed-joule and advertisement as adver-'tis-meant when I wish to sound smart.

Most people don't know it but this is actually what dictionaries are based on. If you don't believe me, pick up any American dictionary and look up "source" and "sauce" and you'll see they are written with the same vowel pronunciation."

There were some words there that I couldn't make rhyme no matter how hard I tried. eg. (If you say the word THOUGHT, does it rhyme with LOT?)

EDIT: ****, nevermind, didn't see the next page.

No kidding, I was driving up there on a trip and I saw a ****ing Confederate flag across the front of one of the houses, lol.

I got Midland, but I have a light Southern accent and it's pretty pronounced to Northern people I think.

Ya'll is a cool word.

You have a Northern accent. That could either be the Chicago/Detroit/Cleveland/Buffalo accent (easily recognizable) or the Western New England accent that news networks go for.

Midland

("Midland" is not necessarily the same thing as "Midwest") The default, lowest-common-denominator American accent that newscasters try to imitate. Since it's a neutral accent, just because you have a Midland accent doesn't mean you're from the Midland.

Ah've just coom oop from down t'pit.

Midland. I try to supress my southern accent because I don't enjoy sounding like an idiot.

I can handle y'all but the word fixin' is more than I can take.

Example:
I'm fixing tah do the lauwndry.
I'm fixin' tah do the lauwndry.

Translates to:

I am about to do the laundry.

For added fun, mix that with ebonics you get:

I finna do da lauwndry.

Etc...

Sigh.

For added fun

I'm fiddna do the laundry.

Highly unsurprising, because my English education consists of being injected with dictionary-standardized spelling and pronunciation.
