Coo, I definietely won't be able to read them all before the next one isw out in october, I read fast but I'll probably be busy. And the cover is out for the next one too

I've got two, but I haven't read them yet. Soon as my exams finish I know what I'll be reading.

I strongly suggest to anyone who is a fan of fantasy and has not read the series to go out and find the first book. This series got me into reading. Before 2001 I hadn't read a book in my life (19 yrs old), I read the WOT book 1 and now I own more than 200 books, all of which I bought in one year.

What is "The Wheel of Time"?
The Wheel of Time is an epic fantasy book series written by Robert Jordan. There are currently eleven books in the series, all of which are telling the same story and weaving towards the ultimate climax. There will probably be twelve or thirteen books for the main story line.

The first book, The Eye of the World was published in 1990 and has been in continuous print ever since. Each book the series has appeared on the New York Times best-seller list, and most of them have been #1 when they first come out.

What's it about?
Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time is a story that takes place both in our past and our future. In his fantasy world, the Dark One, the embodiment of pure evil, is breaking free from his prison. The overall plot is about a man who learns that he is the reincarnation of the world's messiah and is once again destined to save the world from the Dark One -- but possibly destroy it in the process.

What are the books like?
Often compared to The Lord of the Rings, this series differs in some key elements. First, The Wheel of Time is significantly longer than LotR. Humans are the main focus, although there are other intelligent races; if far fewer than what J.R.R Tolkien envisioned.

The books begin very simply, but they quickly escalate into one of the grandest epic sagas ever written. With a cast of characters in the thousands, Jordan weaves together dozens of plot lines, all of which eventually come back to the basic story. He deconstructs our own myths and cultures by showing how they might have actually happened and still become known by how we know them today. A former nuclear engineer, Jordan creates a world that is goverened by complex rules, but all of which have logical consequences, even if they are hard to predict.

All right here's the score according to me. The first five are the absolute best, decreasing in quality through 6 to eight, 9 is just meh, and 10 is some sort of hideous splattering projectile out a horrific turd cannon. Jordan really dropped the ball on that one.

I have read the first 3 just a few days ago. there is a character called Samon in it!
but there are 11 to date plus one prequil

I was going to say about a Literature forum because of that Story thread a while ago, then realised that was you.
Still, could do with a Literature sub-forum some where, quite a few book-based threads around.
Ontopic: I really don't like reading big series of books. Just knowing theres 9 more to go puts me off.

It kinda put me off at the beginning but the books are good so knowing there's 8 more (for me) makes me happy :E

And a prequil! Neer the end of the 3rd book I thought it was coming to a brilliant climax, god, Jordan's going to have to have some ending.
