The whiteboard incident

I don't visit the forums too much, and I keep hearing about the whiteboard incident. I know I'm going to be burned on the stake for this, but what exactly was the whiteboard incident. Try to explain it in 40 words or less, please.

I'm sorry if this thread seriously insults/infuriorates/annoys/offends anybody here.

Uh, i it the picture that had the whiteboard in the background? The board had semi-detailed date-lines. Different parts of the game are dead-lined to be finalized, and the whole thing should be done by June 6th. According to the board.

Some students visited the Valve offices and took some photos and recorded some shaky-cam videos.

In some of the photos there is a whiteboard and you can see what appear to be dates with info written next to them. One of the dates is 6th June with a "Start Distr" written next to it. This is the "Whiteboard Incident" - is "Distr" short for "Distribution"? Is this when Half Life 2 will ship? and other speculative questions.

It's june 3rd and I had no idea what the whiteboard incident was either, well this is lovely, june huh?

I can only hope they follow the board if that is infact what it is

It had nothing to do with distribution. Thats a fact that was discovered in the other thread.
