The real reason for a big disappointment could be servers not handling the load during activation... I would advise everybody to WAIT a random time interval... Say... 0..15 mins, roll the dice for a random number, then wait before u activate... ("Yeah, right!" - you guys would respond, and there's nothing anybody can do about it )...

So I guess we will just have to see,

valve have been plotting against us and have made all the retail boxed versions not work to make us use steam and I don't have steam because i have no broadband.

I just got a x800xt pci-express today, which months ago i promised i would have before hl2 came out. problem is I can't use it untill i get this motherboard which gets here the 18th.

I can't believe I waited 6 years for this game and now I gotta wait 2 extra days, either that or i ruin the experience by playing it on a really crappy card.
