Experts who have studied the US navy's cetacean training exercises claim the 36 mammals could be carrying 'toxic dart' guns. Divers and surfers risk attack, they claim, from a species considered to be among the planet's smartest. The US navy admits it has been training dolphins for military purposes, but has refused to confirm that any are missing.

mothers lock up your daughters :(

Wow.

Dolphins own the sea :(

Good thing I live a couple thousand miles away. I still get to surf!

Wow. That is probably the weirdest and most intersting things that I have read about in ages! I never knew or thought the military used dolphins!

They've been using them for a while...to detect mines and shit.

Are they saying that dolphins are trained to use toxic dart guns?

Wow, not only will there now be killer dolphins but they will also start training their friends in the art of killing humans. It will be like that Simpsons halloween special where they invade.

Anyway, I knew they had trained dolphins before for doing things like sticking bombs onto enemy boats and such but I never knew they were also trained for taking out enemy divers.

Ever hear about the pidgeon guided bombs tested around WWII? They train a pidgeon to look at pictures of lets say a weapons factory. When the bomb drops, it goes towards what they look at, i.e. the weapons factory. Didn't work too well.

Then there's the firebomb bats. A bomb with like 40+ bats is dropped, releases them a few hundred feet from the ground. They each have a firebomb attached to their legs timed for an hour after they are released. The bats go sleep in barns and other large dark buildings, then boom... During testing, one got free... burned down a nearby barn XD

And the russians used giant squids.

It was in Red Alert 2, so it has to be true.

Yep..I've heard of thos Dolphins before...they could be loose and mistake a diver for a potential "target".

And to think I laughed when I saw the attack dolphins in RA2 :p

Am I the only one whose finding it hard to believe that a squadron of paramilitary ninja dolphins armed with anti-battleship dart guns escaped into a hurricane?

the US has been training dolphins for decades ..usually as a bomb delivery system

Whoah.

I'm sorry, but this is worth all the death and destruction.

counter-terrorists win!

at least they can't fly(without their jetpacks)

whoa whoa whoa- the paramilitary dolphins are also NINJAS*? THAT'S AWESOME!

*Ninja? Ninjae? what is the spelling?

psht dolphins, if they were sharks with laser beams then it would a whole other ballgame

I think its just Ninjas. You only us "ae" or "i" in the case of word ending in "us".
For example: Cactus = Cacti, Octopus= Octopi

I figured this out when i was wondering if the plural of Zombies is really Zombi. It isnt'.
