The worst track you'll ever hear.. i'm serious

actually this (the bottom one) is the worst track ive ever heard.. heres the thread that its from
oh my god. it is uplifting, i can't ****ing stop laughing :D :D
especially with this quote:
Psy-Circus Acid preformed by the Joker farting into a Caliope horn machine! Hilarious genre has been invented this day. I can't stop laughing... I don't know why, but this track is so damn uplifting that I'm laughing joyously to tears.

reminds me of this one another trance "aspirant" did:

edit: oh my god, 20 minutes later and i still cant stop laughing.. i havent laughed like this in years

CrazyHarij that experimental stuff was more booring then bad IMO. LOL, love the avatar btw;)

Sounded like video game music. Background music, not something you would just listen to actively. I don't know why you think it sucks so much.

seriously I don't get it, people aren't offended by this track? i posted it in an idm forum and people even enjoyed it.

music for me is all about the melody and tonal quality, and this has none. the infranotes are disturbing to me to say the least, when i listen to it i feel outright ill, my stomach turns. the only mental imagery i get from it is broken robots being maimed with acid liquids.

Well you think your track is repulsive, eh? Too bad I have no server to put it on cause if you heard my very one track you would feel as if someone was scratching your brain:borg: .

It sounds like a tuneless, toneless Aphex Twin. Or something. Ive heard worse.

But that's awesome D:

/is offended by Gick's comment

People have different tastes. Personally, I agree with CrazyHarij on this one. No rythm, no music, no nothing. This is not music.

Meh, it wasn't the worst I've heard. I think it was Guitar Weekly had a demo of a song called "shoes" many years ago - that was the worst song ever.

it sounds interesting. From the visions you said about robots... freaky. But all those extra keys really sound like detuned or off-key notes (like for example, the note C... +1 detuned towards D) but that actually is really cool and I enjoyed it.

strange you say it's bad :p

No rhythm? (Nice spelling btw) Wtf? You must not have working ears. You can clearly hear a beat. Just because the instruments sound glitchy doesn't mean it's not music :|

what you're calling "infratones" are called "quarter-tones," or more generally "microtones," just so ya know. like how half-steps are called "semitones," and quartertones divide them in half.

I certainly wasn't repulsed by it at all. It wasn't very interesting, but I don't think it was a seriously written piece; it was more an experiment in quartertones.

As for people who don't consider it music, why the hell not? It's got recurring motives, meter, form. It's even strongly tonal. On the whole wide spectrum of all possible music, it's way far towards the "conventional music" side.

I'll agree that it's not particularly good music, but it was an experiment, so so what. Keep exploring whatever sorts of sounds interest you.

If you want to question what music is, try anything by John Cage, "Starp" by Chick Corea, or any number of other modern pieces.

thanks qhartb. yeah i've listened to john cage, and i am really into experimental ambient music and ambient noise.

love this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conet_project

Music in my opinion is sound with intent. I feel like I want to experiment more with this type of tuning, see if i can come up with anything interesting.

Oh please, we have to be pointy with every single spelling error these days. I am SO SO sorry. Please don't steal my money and rape my family!

That "glichy" thing you reffered to is in my definition something screwing up the rhythm (see? got it right this time). Keeping to the rhythm is of major importance to feel it's music. Unless you actually have a melody of some sort that sometimes demands the drum beat so change, that's ok. Of course this song in particular had nothing of the sort.

it had a 16/4 timescale with a very minimal beat, just because the rythm isn't dunka-dunka-dunka-dunka (4/4) doesn't mean it's not there

And I still find it hard to call music just because there is a constand dunka dunka. Feeling the rhythm isn't just about hearing a constant drum beat if you ask me. I'd preffer that there's something that keeps things atmospheric, be it music or whatever. May sound crazy to some, I guess but that's my opinion.

It's offensive in an "I can't believe I just paused what I was listening to to play that" kind of way.

It's rather funny how people respond to music, and yes this is music, that challenges their notion of what music is and is not.
I wonder what some of the people who posted here would think about some of Autechre's latest, Alvo Noto, Oval, Ryoji Ikeda, or if feeling torturous even some Merzbow. I can imagine heads would be exploding.

I quite liked the track Harij.

At first it sounded like the beginning of a slipknot song or something.

thanks fiznut, yeah. i personally don't know what to think of autechre, the only albums I've heard were amber and untilted. amber was really damn good but I didn't find the newer one good at all. It was just processed beats without any melodic quality or feel.

right now i'm getting really into venetian snares, i guess you wouldn't dispute whether his stuff is music or not but most people seem to think it's way too intense. Me included of course, until recently. here's a liveset if you're interested in what he sounds like: http://69.64.49.238/~vsnares/Venetian Snares - Live at die Werft.mp3

it takes time to get into and appreciate some of the more obscure artists in the world in my opinion, and i think it relates to how bored you are of "regular" music. some music producer said that as you become more proficient with music, you're eventually going to get bored of all mainstream music and only like avantgarde music and jazz.

Heh yeah. Autechre took me a long time to get into, as far as their newer material goes. They started out very melodic, but as time progressed they really started pushing the limits. It's funny though, most tracks still have some form of melodic element hidden within the sounds, but it's not very obvious. They've really managed to split their fans these days, but I am still partial to both the older IDM sounds and the abstract sound of their newer releases. I find it all fascinating.

Regarding Snares, i'm quite a fan. :] Been trying to keep up with his releases ever since I heard his Doll Doll Doll series. He really blew me away with the amen break wizardry on Rossz though! The man is just absolutely dominating breakcore right now and it doesn't seem to stop. I played Chocolate Wheelchair Album at my best friend's birthday party. People freaked.

Me and you need to talk music more often. It's hard to find people listening to different stuff anymore. I remember talking to you a long time ago on the HL2.net IRC channel. Maybe i'll stop by. :D

Edit: Oh, and if you liked Amber, check out Tri Repetae++, or even one of their first records, Incunabula. Those were their prime days of being more "musical".

When I listened to that I imagined a slow march of robotic beings just walking through a city very honorably.

Meh, I liked it.

yeah fiznut why not show up on IRC some day? would be really nice, i haven't seen you at all for quite a time actually. it's just great to talk with people who are open minded to all kinds of music and generally the more obscure kind.
