Theme Hospital recreation - playable beta

I always ended up losing on the fourth Theme Hospital scenario without figuring out why :(

I wish there was a way to play without any 'time-limit' or objective.

Ah, this brings back memories. I remember buying it along with SimCopter.
Thanks for sharing.

I love this game. Still have it installed on my computer and it works fine! :D

Such a good game.

I downloaded the Vista x64 version but it's not working for me.

Ha, I spoke too soon, killed my PC on Win 7 x64

Used to work on my Vista x64, running in compatability mode I think.

Classic game which I adored. Great news, downloading the beta now.

Just keep getting an error message on Win7 64bit. Can't resolve it. No matter, I'll check back in a few weeks.

Does it have bonus levels? ;)

This is the best news I've seen in a while, I can't wait to get back on fixing balloon heads! Such great memories.

Did you install the demo and edit the config?
Just read you need the original game installed to make it work? What's the point of this then...why don't I just play the original?

I've read through the sites and the wiki but I still don't know how to make it work without the original installed. It just gives me a link to a demo on cnet which I could get anytime. What am I missing here? D:

It uses some of the assets from the original game. Its not a stand alone game at the moment, though they want to be if they can find artists and the like to remake the stuff.

I am so re-downloading this, absolute classic :D

Corsix is a regular over at the Relicnews forums where I post as well.

Loved Theme Hospital, dunno if I'm gonna play this though, I have been clean for years, don't wanna get hooked again.

You need the art from the demo.

Copy the files somewhere and change the config to match where hospital.exe is located.

theme_hospital_install = [[C:\Program Files (x86)\Theme Hospital\HOSP\]]

That is my install line. All I did was copy the directory off my game disc. Why not play the original? Well the original is 16bit and a tad crashy on newer systems. The OpenTTD project just recently released a beta for version 1.0 which has zero reliance on the original game files, although you can still use them if you prefer. OpenTTD also features many things the original game lacks like working MP, mods and native X64 support. That is why this Theme Hospital Project is interesting.

Why didn't he just include all the files in the beta?

I got to know my sister a lot more, because she used to hog the computer to play this; brings back memories

Theme Hospital, Theme Park and Dungeon Keeper was where most of my time went, whatever happened to Peter's creative side

Theme Hospital, Rollercoaster Tycoon and Age of Empires were probably three of the games that really typified the first few years of my PC gaming life, closely followed by adventure games like Monkey Island and Grim Fandango.

But goddamn if Theme Hospital isn't the one that I have the fondest memories of. I freaking love this game. My copy still works on my comp so I'm not entirely sure what the point of downloading this would be?

Yeah, my copy also works fine on XP.

So many people in this thread miss the point entirely. I'd explain why you should try it and support the project but I'd just be wasting precious seconds.
