In war, when two sides fight its never murder in my opinion

Killing is neither great nor glorious, but nothing good is accomplished easily.

It doesn't sound like this marine was over zealous in his actions, he just did what he had to. If they see it as murder then poor them. Even the heroic acts of the Germans of WW2 are realised in other countries. The men fighting each other may have hated "The Nazis" and "The Germans" but ultimately they would have realised that they were all just doing their job.

yes but ...you cant say the nazi's working at the death camps are innocent because "they were just doing their job". The people who tortured the iraqi pow's (not the ones from the abuse photos but they ones they physically tortured to extract info) were "just doing their job" but in this instance that job is illegal. It's all a matter of perspective, a hero to one side, a murderer to the other.

Im not arguing against that...Those nazis did a bad thing and so did the soldiers who undertook tourturing...the soldier in question however, was in the middle of an ambush. Not only was he fighting for his life but in this case he didnt even start it.

btw the soldiers who tortured are not "bad apples" they're CIA agents...not the ones in the photos, the ones who tortured iraqi's high up in the chain of command, to extract info about the wearabouts of certain people, weapons, wmds etc

what cause?...you dont believe the US is there for the "good" of the iraqi people? if that was true millions of Rwandans would still be alive, east timor would be free, Pol Pot would be unknown, several thousand iranian soldiers would still be alive etc etc etc

I didn't say anything about the US' intentions, I was talking about this soldier making the difference for the cause he fights for. While we aren't there for good intetions(Well, maybe not. We don't know the minds of those in charge, we can only speculate), I support the war because I want Iraq free. I'm infuriated about the things you noted, about Rwanda, eat timor, etc. I wish our country would have been in Rwanda to stop the genocide...All I was noting was the Soldier doing his duty, and the cause at hand; Stabilizing and bringing order to Iraq. He did one hell of a job. He's in the military, and is fighting for the cause - whether he cares about it personally or not.

Screw whatever the hell anyone thinks about the politics of the situation. All four of the people commended were fighting for something they felt was right: to protect themselves and others. Take up any other problems with the guys in charge, not the people putting their lives on the line.

No one said that's why we're there...well, some have.
I don't understand why you think anyone disagreeing with you is brainwashed. I don't think we went there under the right intentions, but it's my want for the have freedom that I support the war. So what if it was about oil and forging relations with them to get to it, they'll be free.

BTW: They're there because they're in the military and the President along with Congress' support sent them their. The President is the Commander in Chief - Our boss. He points somewhere, we go. We don't have the freedom to mutiny like civilians apparently seem to.
