There has gotta be way to have players connect to my server and somehow finding out how old they are before they connect.

It's getting really old to be a man in a world of 12 year old kids constantly bitching and moaning and always saying "he's hacking or he's cheating" all the damn time. Every damn player who joins the server is a 5 year old on a mic acting like damn fool.

Is anyone out there teaching their kids how to act, or beyond that, do not buy a mature game to your kid in diapers for the love of god, it's ruining online gaming as a whole.

Sorry guys i just had to get all that out after a long week of babysitting kids while i play a game online. There is a never ending flow of fools one right after another that needs to stop, somehow.
 
you can mute their voice in options>player list

or if it's that bad turn off in coming voice altogether
 
Password protected private servers are the way to go.

Unless they're created my the kids.
 
lol adult only servers. lots of ppl just say it because its a common response when you get killed. get over it man its not just the 12 year olds.

I just want decent players who are not fools to join the server and there is nothing wrong with that. And while saying that most likely the type of players i would want to join would not be 17 years old or under.

Kids under 17 are for a lack of a better word , stupid. They have no respect for anyone, they have no idea how to even play the game and have no idea what is even going on half the time. Why would you want a bitchy little brat playing a game with you? You wouldn't.

I don't have time for all the kiddie bullshit anymore. When you buy a game that is rated for 17+ and is mature you don't expect to have a server full of 5 year olds on it.

I take offense to your post somewhat. Yes I understand some people can be annoying over the internet but it is just that the internet there is not a damn thing you can do about it truthfully. But your comment "if your under 17 your stupid" is far from true. I myself am 16 and to my knowledge people consider me a respectable person. And no matter what the game or age of the player you will always find people talking like that. So instead of coming on some forums and ranting and than putting down people because of their age do your homework and quit complaining.

I am trying to be sophisticated? The biggest word I used was knowledge? Wow I am smarter than I thought. And being defensive? He talks down to other people and when I stand up I am being defensive? Well hell yes I am dumbass last I checked most people defend themselves when they are offended. Yeah i guess it would be solved if i were to ban everyone that is a small child, but then there would be no one left to join a server.

That or you could ban the people who are actually annoying and not anyone under the age of 17 (and the kids under the age of 17 are better than most people in this game, fyi)

This thread has the most dumbass stereotypical posts I have ever read. I'm 16 and if you respect me I respect you, its that simple. I am not stupid just because I turn 17 in a few months. People just don't gain respect or knowledge at the age of 17, they have to learn it. Just because most 12 year olds have mics and like to talk doesn't mean that all of them are annoying. So bravo to this thread for having some of the worst posts of the year.
 
My comments about young kids playing games being annoying is not just because they have mics or just from me guessing about them. After being online with kids for so long and to see how idiotic they behave i can honestly tell you from my experience that it is no fun playing games such young kids, and they are all over the place in too many numbers to avoid or ban.

Some of you may not like this thread or even may not understand it because you may be one of these people and you don't even know it.

but since it is normaly the same person spamming mic just goto player list in-game and mute the persons mic PROBLEM SOLVED WITHOUT CALLING NAMES ON THE FORUMS!

You are being a dumbass. Yes, I have played games with younger kids and can say that most of them are annoying, that does not mean all of them. I said that you are stereotyping young kids with being annoying and no fun to play with. Then you attack someone that could be any age and you tell him to play kid games.

I must say that I am extremely offended by Sky warps prejudice towards 17 and younger.
To be honest with you I am only 13, and I can promise you I don't mic spam, talk 1337, or contend in flame wars, and I honsteley hate Counter Strike and it's community.
I think you are right as heck, in that annoying players should be gotten rid of. Heck your right all over.
However, your seriously wrong in that you think everybody below 17 is a imature little idiot who thinks it's cool to swear and mic spam and acuse of hacks.
To be honest with you, I almost never acuse someone of hacks, I just leave the server and join another one. I know I may not be as smart as you as I am just entering high school, and by now you are probably in college. However just because your in college and you own a huge server doesn't mean you can publicly offend every 16 and below year old who looks at this forum, and you shouldn't think that just because you have 50 or so little imature whiners on your server the other billions in the world are just like them.
I think you may be a great guy or you may be some total asshole like Simon on Celebrity Idol (I don't watch it if your wondering). You may be
the future Alber Einstein or maybe the future Hitler, and I honestley don't know, but I can honestley tell you that in my opinion and probably everyone else's I'm more mature than you in the way that I won't judge all 17+ people by this one that comes along and insults everyone who's younger than him and I won't think they're all the same because of him.

I sincerely apologize if I offended anybody, and I must say I agree with you in some aspects (you would hate being an admin to a Counter Strike server), but you shouldn't go around judging an entire age group of people by the few that come onto your server that hosts a game about shooting eachother and throwing toilets at eachother's heads.

Please take these words into consideration.

I am the result of being bothered so much by young kids i just have nothing nice to say anymore and am driven to the point to make large generalizations.

Ok, so i take back what i said. 10% of the people playing might be decent enough to not bother people, the rest are little whiny babies. There is no way anyone can say this is not true of kids at this age, they have no choice but to be little snotty annoying kids. All kids since the beginning of time have acted this way, i just don't want them near me any longer.
 
I never said i babysit them, at least not on purpose. I said playing games with them online is like babysitting them, but i wouldn't expect a kid like you to have read and understand what i said when i said it.

I'm not surprised all the people here do not like my posts, that's why i chose to come here and post what i did so all you little ones could see what i have to say. Maybe some of you will take your foot out of your ass before joining a server and playing games online, and if i only made one kid aware of how he acts from this thread it would have all been worth it.

Once you have been playing for awhile online it is tough to find some good competition. I really think there should be some sort of filter system.

Being an idiot at a young age is to be expected and not really your fault. Like i said, i just do not feel i have to be around you till you grow up and learn how to act. I'm not your parent, and i should not have to deal with childish people while i'm doing something i enjoy at home.
 
So everyone under 17 should be banned from playing Half Life 2 Deathmatch.

you do realize that most players under 18 in this game are generally good-mannered, and I haven't ran into the type of people you're complaining about in over a year (in my own server anyway, the others I just disable voice chat)

there are childish people at all ages, there's just more of them under 18 since most people are still learning

I honestley am 13, but you could say I'm an anomaly of my generation. All the kids I go to school with are total morons to be honest.
I must sadly say that Skywarp is right in that most of the kids playing Half Life 2 Deathmatch are just what he says they are but there are a few different ones such as I. However, know this Skywarp. By creating and managing that server you will be forced to deal with kids because, after all, they are a big percentage of the people that play the game you are providing a server on. To deny service to all the kids in Half Life 2 Deathmatch is to deny at least %15 of the people playing the game, and I would say that percentage is insanely underestimated.
Skywarp however is extremely wrong in the way that he thinks all the kids are the same. You sound just like some kid saying "I shouldn't have to deal with the grownups rules, I'm getting fed up with this! I'm just going to run away!", only your being even more mature considering you set yourself up for this treatment by starting the Half Life 2 Deathmatch server, whereas the kid is forced to deal with it.
In my opinion Skywarp is as naive as a child for doing this. Add to that the fact that he then comes to the Hl2.net forums to let off some steam, but of course he didn't contimplate the fact that it's a forum and anything he says is completely open to critisizm. So now he goes off nagging at us for telling him he's wrong when he set himself up for everything that has happened.
I find this truly sad, and I pity for him.

*edit* I just turned 14, just a heads up.
