They took the Hydras out?

Did valve raly took the hydras out?
If so can you point me in a direction of a quote?
Does anyone why?
 
I heard they did but No one really knows I guess.
 
aww crap i really liked the hydra ;(
It looked so adorable in the screenshot... and awesome.
Oh well, you gotta survive with what you have.. If there's no Hydras then i'm gonna do some serious bottoms-kicking! :sniper:
I would have died for the hydra because she must be a hungry wormthing..ie.. and i would have wanted her to be well fed after the nasty combines. so i would have offered me as a toothpick or dessert..
 
That didn't look like much of a confirmation by Cliffe. Now, while I respect the staff here at HL2.net, and I'm quite sure that they have sources that we have no idea about, I won't believe it until I see some hard confirmation by a Valve employee.
 
im just curious as to WHY? maybe it slew down some of the medium range cards? Too many glitches in most graphic cards? hmmm
 
from what i've read it was an AI issue...they could only get it to work the way they wanted it to if it was scripted, and of course they didn't want to make the entire enemy scripted or whatever, so *poof!*

now that seems like a logical idea. They could have made a scrippted sequence where you saw the hydra and a combine solder fighting and the hydra winning...then you never see it again..kinda as a "ooohh look a perty blue light!!" Then get shot from behind by a combine D:

Hopefully it'll be like some of the cut enemies for HL1: They show up in the expansion pack.

Hydra is out. No questions about it, it simply isn't in the game. And Bing, for your information, some of the hl2.net staff have very reliable sources of information.
 
Hydra or no hydra its going to be a sweet game. And you never know, Valve could be pulling a great joke on us, and its still in the game.
 
How many times has this been discussed and resolved already, this must be the 10th time!

Oh and by the way it's pronounced Hydrai because there is only one, with a lot of tentacles.
 
In Cliffes response he does mention that it may have been a early copy therefore maybe it has changed once again????
 
Why all the concern over the hydra? I mean it was ok I suppose but it reminded me too much of the creature from the blast pit of the original game. I'd much rather have original enemies than what was essentially a retread of one I'd seen before.
 
Well, i just preordered "Raising The Bar", so i'm looking forward to information as to why this was cut out :thumbs:
 
In the beta it had no AI, none at all, just the scripted part of what you saw at E3, and then it sat there waving its heads a bit...i can see why they took it out if they wouldnt even get it to work
 
Damn.

It was one of the cool enemies.

R.I.P. Hydra.
