Im sure they have seperate departments.

Like Ubisoft.

If its true though, I hope they go back to their roots. Theif 3 wasnt as good as the others, but id imagine theyll throw a VERY nice engine over it to make it look incredible.

Thief has always been one of my favourite games because it pulled off everything it wanted to do, it was genre defining.

Screw Deus Ex 3, Deus Ex 2 was laughable.

I look forward to buying and never playing this one too.

Any news on a new Thief is good imo. So I hope for the best.

I certainly hope so. I have had fun with all of the Thief games. I liked Deadly Shadows too despite the general feeling for it. I am very excited to see what new engine T4 might be running....

I absolutely loved the Thief series. If 4 comes out, I'm definately getting it.

Sometime.

I look forward to never buying it, and playing it.

I kid! I'm generous, and would do both.

Never played any of the Thief games.

Are they available on Steam? :o)

I own all three games. Thief II was my first and I got a fair way through, that game had a lot of missions after all. I don't think I ever got further than the dire Zombie level in Thief, and I don't think I got much further than the tutorial in Thief III.

I really like the Thief games and always managed to get them as soon as the price was right... but there was always something else to sink my time into, usually something more immediately gratifying. It has always been my intention to return to the trilogy and see them through, but then I've got plenty of quality titles in their company. Company of Heroes, Fallout 3, Psychonauts and STALKER will probably get played first. Could take years for me to get to the Thief games...

CoH, Psychonauts and Stalker all suck compared to Thief III. Fallivion has some T3 type mechanics when you can sneak in shadows to steal things. That was one of my favourite things in Oblivion.

I can't even play the first two Thiefs anymore because they're so old.

That's because Emil Pagliarulo was the lead designer on Fallout 3, a designer for Oblivion's stealth bits, and a designer for the Thief series as well. He's quite something. It will be interesting to see how different Thief 4 turns out with some very different people on the team.

I can't believe you actually think Deadly Shadows is great.

I thought I was alone.

You should know - the phenomenon is, after all, hardly unprecedented - that you're far, far from alone.

*weeps at the promise of a sequel*

I hope they keep the clever guard - dumb guard conversations. They were great.

Hahaha! I forgot about those! Man, those were awesome. I would listen to the .oggs over and over and over again. The casting was PERFECT.

So true. I swear the guy doing the dumb guard is Puumba.

Do you know is there anywhere to d/l them? Or even the filenames from the Thief folder?

Thief is a great series. I cant decided if I prefer number 2 or 3.

And the voice acting is great! For the main characters anyway. I remember one conversation in the metal age where the keepers are telling Garret about how all the trees in the city are disappearing and Garret just says:

"Ok, well how about you keepers go plant some trees and I'll take care of me." Classic.

PS: Id rather have Deus Ex 3 before thief 4.

lol eidos montreal going to turn this into an action & fps game

May 11th eh? Hopefully it won't be a crappy teaser like DE3's one.

Replaying Deadly Shadows atm :)
