Things that you would have done differently in the 'Tunnels' video?

What would you have done differently in the tunnels video if you were playing?

Personally I would have pulled down that set of shelves in front of the closed chain link fence to make sure those little gits didnt push it open.

If I didnt do that id use the physics gun to smash em with the paint pot on the floor.

Then of course I would fry both soldiers. And the third, just for the fun of it.

And when the combine soldier got run through by the tentacle, I would point my HEV suit finger and go "HAHA!" in a bright voice.

Then of course I would throw Alyx over a shoulder and find a nice secluded room...

Then I'd probably have to find a hospital due to severe head injury from a pipe coming from an unknown direction, probably a big ass monster, yeah thats it... A REALLY big monster...

no, actually I would have killed the combine before the Hyrda, and see what happens

Not something i could have done, but the developers could have got the combine which got impaled by the hydra to fire off a few rounds when he got hit, that would have looked cool

He wouldnt have though, he wasnt even facing the enemy.

But wouldn't it be cool to have him desparately, perhaps accidentally, empty the magazine while he flailed through the air? I think that would be awesome.

Well first off I would have aimed (and hit) much better than whoever was playing.. I would have killed all the Manhax, then explored the alley they came from if it was blind I would have gone back to the soldiers and kill them with big hell gun thing...

If it "was blind?" I'm not familiar with the word being used that way. Do you mean if it was a "deadend" (doesn't lead anywhere)?

I wouldn´t hav e thought that the metal fenced-door would the the manhacks, because they had opened the other metal door some seconds before that, or not?

btw, this is my last day of my commercial trainee and then I have a two month holiday, woohoo.

It's interesting, that. Because up until now, I can't think where we would have intentionally put such a blockade in between us the player and our enemies. another example being the barrier (alright, it was a bit bum) Gordon made from the boxes and matresses in Traptown. As far as I can remember this isn't really a tactic we've been able to use so far. Time to start re-learning the way we play, I think.

Yeah in the tunnels vid each pistol shot gord took he only lost 2 HEV points.

That grenade flame gun would of worked really well. I would of set man hacks on fire, the shelf on fire, the boxes, stupid combine soldiers(lol), then quicksave and try and see what alyx does when she gets put on fire.

Maybe she would drop stop and roll in the water to get rid of the flames and then forget about it. I personally don't think AI is that advanced (maybe in HL3)

In a way I just feel like when I play the game I am not going to be able to think of all these kewl ways to deal with the situation like shooting out fences and closing metal gates. It's easy for the map designers to do these things in demos because they know where all the alternative methods are and how to use them but for your average gamer who just wants to blow shit up I get the feeling the originality of how HL2 can be played will be lost on him.
