EDIT: Maybe not position... but definitely powers. From wikipedia:

The U.S. Constitution provides that should the president die or become disabled while in office, the "powers and duties" of the office are transferred to the vice president. Initially, it was unclear whether the vice president actually became the new president or merely acting president.

So... he doesn't even have to die. He can become sufficiently disabled from his old age.

tell her Palin's not a very good mother ..she wont exactly have a lot of time for her mentally handicapped infant son, her teenage daughter is pregnant and getting married to some guy who refers to himself as a redneck and there wont be time to sit down at the table for dinner if she becomes VP. I bet her kids are bottle fed as well ..she looks like the delicate kind who wouldnt want to ruin her looks
