Right, thats it. I'm am so f*%$ing fed up of the way Gabe Newell and his "almighty" bunch of fellow designers keep deciding to give the proverbial middle finger to fans of the series. A recent interview with Gabe states that he was willing to take production into 2005 if he had to, to make the game even truely amazing. As one of the thousands of people who really banked on a sept 30th 2003 date I am happy to say "I couldn't care less if it was so amazing it would blow my socks off, I will not by this game if it runs into 2005".

I cannot believe Valves constant decision to **** everyone off. A typical view im getting of valve now is something along the lines of. I know! we have a loyal fanbase who constantly want to help the team, lets repay them by not only constantly delaying the game but not giving them any Idea of when the games going to be released. I know some people will argue that if the game is in post-production (which it damn well better be) it would be hard to give a definite release date, but it doesn;t take a genious to realise wether the game will be ready in 2004 or 2005.

So I say to Gabe and his team, stop holding information from your fanbase, give us an idea of when this game will ship, and try to remember more people will play it the sooner its released.

I used to hate people that played the beta, but if this continues I can no loger blame them for what there doing.;

Indeed, another point im missing out on is the thousands of people who claim they will be happy if the game is delayed into 2005 claiming that it will only mean good things. Call me crazy but in a year half life 2 will have lost its magic, no matter what they add into it, no good can come of this.

lol ok ok , this has been talked about if you look further down , he was saying if they felt they needed to go into 2005 then they would do so , not that it has been delayed longer. Hey man take alook at the top of the forum , they have answered close to 500 emails with stuff we would like to know about , so to me that is a great effort on their part.

Hell everyone wants the game , so just wait it out eh

You sir, are an idiot. Your argument is based around a quote you didn't even read properly (Read this thread) and the source leak, which was entirely outside Valve's control.

Well get new info with E3, so stop having a go at Valve

bull shit , source is not a locked engine , they can keep on adding shit into it to make it look like the new kid on the block , and with hl1 they delayed it because the levels went like shit together , so they delayed it and we got what we still play today.....

my point being is that its good they take their time

I'm not so against it. Whatever happens, happens. Personally I'm ready to believe Valve when they say they are doing it for the community.

But you have taken your path, and are now really angry and despairing at Valve, and will enjoy HL2 less because of the bad blood. Well, that's for you to be negative about. However, I don't enjoy having all these posts around, valve-bashing, "This has got to stop!", "I have a right to demand whatever I feel like!". They are cluttering up the forums, and spoling the good character of the HL2.net community. Let's keep it to HL2 discussion. Not valve, not how inconsequential your voice is, not what you think, not bashing people's threads. Let's discuss Halflife 2, as although there is no new information, I really do like the warm, far-off feeling I get when I talk about, and think about, Halflife 2. I am really looking forward to this, and I will not stand for people like YOU to come here and foul up these forums.

Thats because they don't spend time addressing more important matters, like, say, getting their game finished and out of the door in a reasonable timeframe for example.

Well, if they rarely answered any eMails, even more people would complain, I reckon...

entirely outside Valve's control

? because valve gave their word to you.. i dont know how anyone can know this for sure. id class that as speculation Varsity,. we still dont know if it was 'entirely' out of their control even if they say that :| , like alot of people have said I wouldnt take sides with anyone. I most certainly wouldnt trust valve for as far as I could throw Gabe

lol, I still Luv Valve,, :D

The leak included large portions of the uncompiled Havok engine, that Valve are sworn to keep secret. They were lucky they weren't sued for millions of dollars.

We have been waiting to see for quite a while as it is........
Total BS.

What's got to stop is game companies announcing a games existence years before it's released.

oh of course :upstare: . But stealing something and passing it off as your own as a havok engine alone seems a bit pointless... part and parcel to the point that anything illegal wouldnt be worth buying... as is usually the case

The ONLY thing I don't understand/like about valve is that they never give out enough information.

Why not just tell us the whole story, why it's delayed, what they're doing, what's going on. Just a little bit of info and not just "we had some problems" "it's coming very soon". I think with more detailed and accurate info, like dates, events, etc everyone would be much happier. But that's just me.

They answer emails about very trivial matters but when the time comes for A LEADER to appear and settle the masses....nothing happens.

If i were Gabe, i'd come and post on this very site and say what the hell is going on.

Valve is the anti-community developer.
That is a preposterous statement. It is moronic unfair and totally untrue.

1. HL2 is being developed with mods in mind, therefore helping the modding community and Half Life fan base flourish.
2. They are making the game and they owe you absolutely nothing and your bitching and whinging is childish and unjustified in the extreme. You act as though they have wronged you personally - bollocks. One person on this forum (forgive me, but their name has been lost to my lager-addled mind) said "Wow, you make it sound as though Valve was your abusive father" Perfectly put.
3. When the source code got stolen, who did he turn to? This very forum. Not the press, the community.
4. He has given people not only his e-mail address, but his home phone number - when was the last time John Carmack gave put his privacy second place to his fans? Plus, he and the rest iof Valve have usually answered the sensible e-mails promptly and perfectly.
5. What does have to stop is the constant Gabe-bashing. As if he were the only member and all your unfounded misplaced bile gets focussed on this poor guy. And it often breaks down to childish insults about his weight. F*ck right off and leave the man alone unless you have something constructive to say.

Hell_on_toast, you are completely and utterly unjustified in what you are saying and what we SHOULD be getting sick of is the bitching that constantly streams out as if the release of HL2 was the only good thing in your life. Get over yourselves and realise that:
a) It's just a game.
b) It's not your game. When you create something of equal standard and deliver it on time THEN you can spew anger whatever you want and be vaguely justified.

They have given you information you're just ignoring it and instead choose to follow false information posted by crap sites. The game is set for this summer.

They aren't releasing tons of information because there's no point at this time. It's all about marketing the product, you don't start until you're pretty much finished with the game.

If I where Gabe right now, id be counting my Dollars :D right Munro ;)

edit: nice AV munro, (I think Dilbert and co are great :) )

What some of you seem to be missing here is that game companies are not accountable to their fans by any means besides sales. They are independant entities that are in this for the money. I get tired of hearing all the complaining about how Valve should do this for us or how they shouldn't do this. Well I'll bet that 99% of you that complain will buy the game anyway. So unless you plan on boycotting them, why bother making pointless complaints?

What are you trying to say? Havok have an NDA on their engine and sue anyone breaking it. It's a fact.

I agree with you there , that is very much a fact.. anyone trying to rip it off wouldnt have a chance.

Business isnt evil Mr Fusion, its the people who run the buisness, and then become corrupt

If you boycott the game then you're doubly stupid because:
a) It won't make one jot of difference.
b) You'll simply be robbing yourself of an amazing gaming experience.

Munro it's a bold statement to call it fake though.

I was just taking it into account.
Also, I understand things can change unexpectedly in the bussiness, and that they can't always update their fans, but.. All I was asking for was honesty.

Yeah but surely it's a bit different if it's stolen, no? It'd be a bit like me borrowing my friend's car, getting car-jacked and then my friend taking me to court...

So the PC Zone coming out on the 29th this month with new info and screens and Valve saying new info will be released at e3 = valve not telling the fans whats going on?

I cant wait for E3,, :D, but how confident are we all that there will be new vids and pics out of it..? rather than just information

Well it would be retarded if Valve didnt show new footage or new screens at E3.

E3 for games is a place where you can hype your product and Gabe just standing their next to a HL2 logo saying "Yeah its pretty kick ass" is hardly going to hype any1 up.

Omg, look at the way planethalflife.com is presenting this on their website.

They are talking like it's already delayed...OMFG
Fragmaster truly is an idiot..does he has anything against valve or something?

Gabe has said IF WE NEEDED TO..he's not saying they will...

However..if this WILL happen, I'll be very dissapointed..

I think a game is never finished, it just gets released, and hl2 can always be made better..but valve needs to draw a line somewhere don't you guys think?

Yeah, I can really see how this is a bad thing.

Moron.

God people really do get carried away with this nonsense. Ask yourself if it was a choice between playing a buggy , not as good as it could be game this year or something that would blow your socks off next year what would the answer be?

Now perhaps it's my inner cynic speaking but I never expected the september 30th date to be accurate I mean apart from anything else when have you ever seen a major game roll out on it's first date of asking ( never mind the security fubar at valve )

At the moment everything is point to a release this year ( summer hopefully ) but if not, these things happen.

Wow....some people can't read correctly, just like on hl2d.... :bonce:

These morons will shut up once the game is released anyway. Then again they are probably going to be the same morons that will start complaining about HL2's faults.

Actually, PHL said basicly the same thing as Halflife2.net did in their post, he just didn't make the point with a sledgehammer the way we thought it was necessary.
