Sierously I hate all the decrimination bullshit.... I mean take this for example... most colledges when looking at people test scores also look into their racial backround, and if a white guy and a Mexican guy had the exact same score, the Mexican guy would get into the colledge because that colledge would then get more money from the government because of accepting a racial minority.....

that right there is fight Racsim With Racism.... WTF???

1) colledge = college (just fyi) 2) affirmative action is a very complex issue, you can read all about the pros and cons on the internet (or books of course) 3) firefighters often fight fire with fire, e.g. wildfires in california.

you have no idea what you're talking about...affirmitive action (which is what you're talking about) ensures that a school is racially diverse...

if a minority kid from the city of detroit (horrible, awful public school system) gets all A's and has lots of extracurricular activities, affirmative action ensures that he gets a chance to be admitted to a good school even though A's at his shitty detroit school don't mean as much as a kid who went to a super-duper private school.

it's an attempt to affirm the fact that the average minority familiy has less money than the average white family.

of course, it's messed up in the sense that a rich minority kid who had all the best in his/her life gets in over a white kid who was poor and had equivalent test scores/grades....THAT's what's stupid about affirmitave action.

the principle (trying to give people equal opportunities despite economic differences) is a good one.

Lol... about those wild fires.... I LIVE 4 miles from all of them pretty much... My aunts house burnt down, My friend jason's house burnt down, My sister friends house burnt down, I knew 1 of the 20 people killed in all of the fires...A few other people I know also had their houses destroyed.... My area was evcuated about the monday after the fires started at 8:00am.. ALL SCHOOLS were closed for more then a week. CIF cancelled all sports, so my varsity football game was postponed a week.

AND yes I know that firemen start "Back fires" in order to make a controlled fire that burns out some brush before the out of control fire reaches it... BUT SOMETIMES the fire fighter lose control of their backfires!!!

My example for fires goes like this... If you started fire inside your house, you don't spray more fire on the house to put it out...

You guys should watch South Park... Sure you think its just a really ****ed up T.V. Show, but they also tackle and make fun of rediculus political issues...

seen it, south park is a fairly clever show (they used to be better though). but this is a real political issue, stone and parker would be the first to tell you not to use their show as a basis for political discourse.. they are nearly always making fun of extreme political correctness. equal oppotunity and affimative action are not necessarily in this category (although they can be carried too far, of course).

somebody i know started calling it "reverse discrimination" except i think he was using it in general and wasn't talking about affirmative action. he was talking about how tv commercials are allowed to make generalizations about white people, but if they did that with any minority then they're accused of stereotyping. i think he was mostly kidding about it all though.
