So hackers obvious got very detailed source code so now the game is 6 months ahead, this cant be happening think of all the money they are gonna loose cause of this.

i dont know much a bout that playable version but if they have the game complete, a lot peeps will dl it as a warez instead of paying, valve will lose big bucks if they dont do something soon.

Well..... i'd buy it anyway! And i'm sure i'm not the only one. I even went so far to upgrade my pc because it was to slow for hl2 (850mhz and a geforce 2, now it's a 2600mhz and a R9800pro). Maybe there is a chance i can't resist to try the leaked stuff, i'll still buy the game anyway because i feel for valve and think the guy/girl who did this should be severely punished. Besides, they worked 5 long years for this! It's gonna be great when it's gold and released, i don't care whatever happens i'll buy it.

Valve doesn't lose a penny over this. It just extends the amount of time it takes to make money from the game. Thats all. The game would have delayed anyways, so I don't think it made much of an affect anyways. People will still buy the game. The leak will not stop people from buying the game. Infact, it probably helps Valve. Think of all the promotion. Bad promotion is good promotion.

That's like saying the hack was a brilliant thing to happen for Valve. Understand that this is 5 years of blood, sweat and tears where alot of money has been invested into. To then discover that someone had access to those files and is distributing them over the web is like a bloody slap in the face. Fellow gamedevelopers can now check very easily how Valve constructed the game, which is the last thing you'd want to happen to a game that needs to be released yet. Especially to a game this cutting-edge.
