Today I got my new PCG. And when I was checking out the release dates for games I saw Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines date. Its October 12 they claim. And the date for HL2 was vague (Fall). Now I read somewhere about Doom3 that developers wanted to use Doom3 engine in their games. But they must pay royalties and ask permission and so on. But the game that has the original game engine must be released first. So my thought is HL2 must be released sometime between September to October. Unless HL2 is delayed again (oh god no!) then Masquerades date will also be bumped up to. Tell me what you think guys. :naughty:

The game with the original engine has to be released first? Well, if that's true, then lets hope for the best ...

I think Valve made the company making Vampre sign a contract that they will not release their game before HL2, since Valve wants HL2 to be the first game out there utilizing the Steam engine. At least that's what I would have done.

Thats exactly what happened, the HL2 delay gave the Vampires developers more time, they said so in interviews, but basically they told them that the extra time was welcomed anyway.

They do indeed have a deal where by HL2 will come first and Vampires released after.
I guess though that if HL2 is delayed again Valve have to either pay some sort of Damage money to the developers or let them release before HL2.

I very much doubt HL2 will be delayed again though - so September does look good. :)

Exactly lazicsavo. Because their like, "look at our graphics so give us your money first and then Bloodlines". Its just marketing strategys.

I think it would be funny if Valve made the release on September 30th like it was supposed to be last year :p ...actually that seems very possible...meh. Or was it 29th?, dunt remember.

I will offer 3 shiney new pennies and a golden chopstick, to any man who dare build me a famtabulous time traveling device!

I wasn't very interested in Bloodlines until i found a site (i think there was a topic about it in the 'General Gaming' section) that had 5 videos, and showed gameplay, character creation, and showed a quest completed. It looks like a really well-made RPG...plus it's on the Source engine  .

Which is a good thing given Trokia's reputation for releasing hidiously buggy games.

Well, being very interesting in the whole gaming industry, I get a magazine called MCV, it's about the business side of it all.

Anyway, they have a chart of release dates which is what the retailers go by, and they have HL2 listed as Q3/2004

doesn't Q3 end on the last day of September?
I'm still going for a 30/09/2004 date.
