This Weekend: Rockstar Games 50% Off on Steam

Wanna get the Max Payne games but must resist!

If you haven't played them already, I'd suggest it. I bought them yesterday after years of not playing them and found they really live up to their reputation. It's a fantastic game so far.

Dont tempt me! My wallet already hates me from all the games coming out in the next few months!

Wait..what GTA 4 is not being released on Steam?

Apparently so. I'd imagine it's probably another part of the deal over the $50 million MS paid Rockstar/2K for the GTA 4 DLC rights. Rockstars games have done terrific business through Steam based on what I've heard, so don't think it's a deliberate snubbing by 2K.

Personally although I tend to prefer DD games these days (much less hassle), I'll be picking up GTA IV retail simply because you get the map and packaging etc. You never know though much like The Witcher which was also GFW, GTA4 might turn up on Steam further down the road following a rerelease (GTAIV: ultimate edition). I'll probably rebuy it them if it's worth it.

The good news about it being a GFW exclusive, might be that the much talked about 360 DLC might well be included in the retail release.

I think this a great offer especially since I was considering buying this last weekend and then I though I should think about it then forgot until 2 days ago.

Isn't there GFW games on Steam?
Act Of War i think.

So was I. I started playing GTA 3 and Max Payne. Max Payne is so damned good.

Owned most of them already but can't be arsed to find the discs (some on other formats) so bought the pack :)
Looking forward to tinkering with Max Payne again; I bet the graphics still look good too.

I love the way Steam helps me spend money by being so damn convenient!

Ubi, ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME?!
/slap

The region lock prevents sale of the game in that region, receiving it as a gift should be fine.

This does work. I gifted Operational the GTA games and he's up and running with them now (in your face evil Australian censors).

Not as far as I can see. The only game I know that's been GFW and on Steam is The Witcher so far. GFW is a competing service (well a service anyhows) so I can't see them encouraging it.
