Those of you saying we are 1000 years away from Combine technology...

Actually the main problem is not do we have the technology, we do, on papaer the theory and calulations for all this fancy technology have been around for a long time now. The problem is a power source, there is no power source on earth at the moment that is powerful and flexible enough to power all the fancy ideas we have for the future.

The math is there, but to power it. Thats another story.
 
It takes, oh, about infinite energy to get massy objects to the speed of light, dude. And we don't have teleportation: we can simply copy the information of one particle to another particle. That's not teleportation.
 
Putting it as if we are a thousand years away from Combine technology sounds like a broad and linear notion chronologically speaking. An advancement might speed up the process of another if we put our resources to use. But teleportation, I don't think so... I'd say the closest thing to a teleportation device is a worm-hole.
