Three Announcements From Valve Next Week, Hardware Incoming?

My guess for the three announcements are:

1. A revamped Steam OS for the Steam Box and Big Picture, running on Linux.

2. The Steam Box itself. (one version allowing you to stream from your PC to your TV and possibly other devices, and one being an actual console.)

3. The Controller.

I could be wrong with the controller being announced separate from the console, if that's the case then the third thing could be Source 2 or something ekse that would interact with the console.

Judging from the teaser page, it looks as though one of the announcements will be an Arts & Crafts contest to design a game controller using: cardboard, egg cartons and string. A controller for cats!!

Valve have long sought to reach new customers in new places, and moving into the living room will allow them to reach that final untapped videogame audience, the common house pet. Even now programmers are hard at work converting Valve's library for just such a purpose. A version of counter-strike aimed at dogs and cats, Portal for the rodents, and not forgetting the lowly goldfish - Left4Dead.

Actually, after re-reading the official announcement page; I think you might be onto something. It says:

Announcement Page said:
Last year, we shipped a software feature called Big Picture, a user-interface tailored for televisions and gamepads.
This year we’ve been working on even more ways to connect the dots for customers who want Steam in the living-room.

Soon, we’ll be adding you to our design process, so that you can help us shape the future of Steam.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they do something like this. If not this, then I wonder what Valve means by "adding you to our design process."

K, so I was playing around with the image in photoshop and came across this. If you take the three circles and overlay them it spells DOTA, so yeah not sure what that's about.

I know it has been discussed in other steam box discussions, but has anyone considered the possibility of one of the announcements being a steam/valve linux distro. I think it would be something to get excited about, a whole OS dedicated to PC gaming but also a fully functioning linux distro. I think it would make some sense with what Gabe was talking about at that LinuxCon. I could even imagine them possibly releasing a mobile distro though that seems less likely.
