ah shit it's an april fools joke... Damn you to hell adam foster!!!

I was just about to post a thread about this.

I hope it isn't an April Fool's Joke. And if it is I hope it comes with some form of... playable level with a huge ROFL-worthy joke at the end.

If not I shall be very annoyed.

If that it does turn out to be an April Fools, go and play "Someplace Else", the HL1 map that appears to be set in the same storyline as Minerva. Most people haven't, and it's actually quite good :)

Yeah, definitely. :)

Don't worry. I already have. :p I went through the whole thing during my MINERVA obsession stage when Episode 2 was released.

I hate this, I get a creepy feeling its gonna turn out to be a screamer! :p

Ah, that was a good one!

Always makes me wonder why people aren't more alert during the start of this particular month...

Damn you adam Foster! you got my hopes up you cheap bastard!

There's five pages hidden behind that 'sellout.php' - randomly selected for maximum confusion. One is incredibly unlikely to appear; I've no idea if anyone will have actually seen it yet, although with the couple of thousand page-views so far, there's a small chance...

If you want an update, check the Someplace Else page, now with a fully-Steam-compatible download - complete with detail textures and new splash-screen. And a really sweet little icon.

Have fun!

(And yes, I'm evil... ;-) )

Ooops.

Should be fixed now - only 18 'downloads' from that particular mirror so far!

OMG I've been wanting to play this. It looks excellent!

Oh dear. When you die, it resets you back to the real game. Is this a bug that can be fixed?

silly question but how do you install the Someplace else map? Do I put it in the same file as the minerva one or do I put in the sourcemods folder? I cant seem to find it anywhere in the gamelist of the map list.

Edit: Do I need HL:source in order to run Someplace else? If thats true then I know why I cant find it.

You put it in the Half-Life folder. Why would you put a HL1 mod in a Source Mod's folder?

From minerva's homepage:
One is a fancy new repackaged version of Someplace Else, with full Steam compatibility, detail textures (for subtly improved visuals), a nice new splash-screen, and (best of all) a lovely little 16x16 icon for the Steam games list.

I was thinking I would install it and play similiar to how I installed and played minerva thats all.

But since I dont have HL1 on this computer, I dont think I can play it, in which case me posting was... silly.

Same here. I hoped I could play it with hl:source but apparently not. I have hl1 installed but I can't run it because I don't have the original cd-key so steam won't let me play it. That was actually the major reason I bought hl:source. Maybe I could play it if I uninstalled steam, but I don't know if it's worth it.

For future Ref, remember that Steam is different to "Source". Source is the new HL2 era engine, but Steam is just a frontend to access it and other games, including the HL1 era engine.

If you find your HL cd-key, you can input it over steam and it should entitle you to HL1 series games through steam, which you can then use from any computer.

You could simply install HL1 from the CD and install the old Minerva mod "the old fashioned way" that people would have been doing in 2002 :) . Patching non-steam HL to a Someplace-Else compatable version may be difficult though, because download sites have no real reason to hold onto those obsolete builds.

If you haven't got a copy of Half-Life, you're a strange, peculiar deviant person who deserves to be laughed at.

I think I've got three copies. Yes.

As for strange, peculiar deviant persons: here's MINERVA running on my Mac. For those of you not paying attention, this is a Good Thing, as it's a bit more portable than my PC...

You're running XP on that, yes?
