If that it does turn out to be an April Fools, go and play "Someplace Else", the HL1 map that appears to be set in the same storyline as Minerva. Most people haven't, and it's actually quite goodReginald said:I was just about to post a thread about this.
I hope it isn't an April Fool's Joke. And if it is I hope it comes with some form of... playable level with a huge ROFL-worthy joke at the end.
If not I shall be very annoyed.

You put it in the Half-Life folder. Why would you put a HL1 mod in a Source Mod's folder?WingsofJecka said:silly question but how do you install the Someplace else map? Do I put it in the same file as the minerva one or do I put in the sourcemods folder? I cant seem to find it anywhere in the gamelist of the map list.
Edit: Do I need HL:source in order to run Someplace else? If thats true then I know why I cant find it.

WingsofJecka said:But since I dont have HL1 on this computer, I dont think I can play it, in which case me posting was... silly.
For future Ref, remember that Steam is different to "Source". Source is the new HL2 era engine, but Steam is just a frontend to access it and other games, including the HL1 era engine.WingsofJecka said:From minerva's homepage:
One is a fancy new repackaged version of Someplace Else, with full Steam compatibility, detail textures (for subtly improved visuals), a nice new splash-screen, and (best of all) a lovely little 16x16 icon for the Steam games list.
You could simply install HL1 from the CD and install the old Minerva mod "the old fashioned way" that people would have been doing in 2002 . Patching non-steam HL to a Someplace-Else compatable version may be difficult though, because download sites have no real reason to hold onto those obsolete builds.okidoki said:Same here. I hoped I could play it with hl:source but apparently not. I have hl1 installed but I can't run it because I don't have the original cd-key so steam won't let me play it. That was actually the major reason I bought hl:source. Maybe I could play it if I uninstalled steam, but I don't know if it's worth it.

I think I've got three copies. Yes.
As for strange, peculiar deviant persons: here's MINERVA running on my Mac. For those of you not paying attention, this is a Good Thing, as it's a bit more portable than my PC...
