It's now time for Valve and VU to step forward together and make a joint statement on the whole situation.

What is real, what is not real. Release dates, beta's, leaked code, leaked resources, the release strategies and pricing.

Stop all this speculation and nonsense. Show a little respect.

You want the truth? You can handle the ****ing truth!

lol... you have more chance of the moon exploding... :E

This Ain't gOnnA Stop until We are gOing to SomebOdys FRUNERAL!!!

Oh come on! This is beginning to have a very bad smell.

I've pledged my hard earned into something by pre-ordering and I'm now told I may/may not have it sometime next year. It's time to show a bit of respect and inform the investors what exactly is to be expected. It's not a great deal to ask now is it?

I could not agree more. This whole "keep the fans in the dark" bullshit has gotten very old.

How's this for some speculative truth:

1. I do not believe Valve knew that Vivendi pushed HL2 back to April 2004 until AFTER they announced it publicly.

2. I do not believe Valve knows the scope what exactly was stolen yet from their own servers. Vivendi contends only 1/3 of the source code tree was stolen - meanwhile we have a working beta - with art, models and tilesets that could only be from the game itself.

My conclusion - the game has been partially compromised in a playable form and Valve has an incredible dilemma in their hands.

LOL - You state this so simply while other threads ramble on with this obvious theme. Vive La Truth! (spelled vive wrong maybe... who cares french bastards?)

Now here's someone who's posting some sense instead of mindless dribble, i'd have to say you're right. Be a few more days before valve tell us what's really going on i'd say.

Well let's face it, how many people have ALREADY invested sums of money for the release? on the game itself? on Hardware? on time off to play (Sadly enough!:x) ?

All I (not we, i can't speak for everyone!) ask is that a little respect is shown. I can't help but feel that we are being pissed on from all directions.

I really don't want to cancel my order, but hey I might as well as it's £30 I could use elsewhere just now. We hand it to Valve and VU in droves, not much to ask for a little more than silence. A wee bit of consistancy wouldn't go amiss either! Afterall, I put my money where my mouth is on the value of some 2 minute videos. (nice videos though!)

Come on show yourselves Valve and VU!

the reason they are keeping us in the dark is because they are in the same situation! they dont know when its gonna be released so why start speculations when the commuity acts the way it does about that info

when they know something we will hear it

if valve announces another delay till april 2004, more people will get the beta, and you can be sure that a new entity of a game will being to be built on the hl2 beta + source code by many impatient, pissed off, talented modders. i hope they realize this

Agreed!

The game has been comprimised. we all know that. Valve has some serious work ahead of them. no one knows what to expect right now. There could be months of coding ahead of them.

As for respect for the investors:
You think that Valve has seen a dime of that? Hell no !
They know that there are thousands if not millions of copies pre-ordered, but that money stays locked until the game is in the hands of the consumers that ordered it. A retail store can't just take that money and send it off to Valve cause you still have the right to cancel. And you can bet your ass that EB ain't taken no hit cause someone cancels an order.

So for everyone that is constantly bitching.... GET YOUR PANTIES OUT OF A TWIST!

Ignore any statements.

The game comes out "when it's done". It's the simple truth, and VU and Valve are too afraid to say it because it causes so many fanboys to roll their eyes and sigh.

"When it's done". If you upgrade for a single game, wait until it's out, don't be stupid.

without doubt the best thread ive read on this matter, hats off to the mature majority in here as for the rest ... GROW UP!!! anyway i hope sum1 with the means reads this thread and takes heed of what has been said! i completely agree that it's about time we got some straight facts with regard to the situation.
