Obviously you've all seen the PS3 and Xbox 360 specs and videos... well, then you know that HDTV is probably a good investment.

Well, I have some advice for people who are looking to have HDTV at a very affordable price. It's called a Projector.

First, let me say I had my doubts before I bought it, but OMFG it's amazing. I've had it for about a year and HDTV is insanely sharp. I've played an Xbox using 720p Halo 2 and it's super sharp. And what's even better is I only paid $900 for a 124" screen.

It's a cheap investment if you think about it. $900 for a 124" screen projected onto a white wall, a warranty so you can replace any broken bulbs within it. Not only that, if you have Comcast you can utilize the HD and non-HD channels. Gamecube and Xbox look amazing on it... plus the WOW factor.

To me, it's a lot better than spending $1500 on a dingy 45" widescreen when I can get the same quality on a 124" screen. It fills the whole wall, it's a little bit above 6 feet tall.

If you want to research it, go to www.infocus.com. I have the X1 which is a bit outdated... the newer versions support more options but the X1 is very nice if you want affordability+quality.

For reference I use:

* DVD
* Gamecube
* Xbox
* Computer
* Cable
* VCR

(I use a home theater box for all this plus a S-video switch for the VCR and Cube and a PC KVM switch for the cable box and computer.)

Sorry if this sounds like advertising... I'm just spreading the word about this less-known medium. Everyone is so excited when they get "big screen" TVs and us home theater afficianados are just sitting on the couch laughing at them while we watch our huge screens.

I have seen this once. You basically turn ur room into a cinema / gaming walhalla. Pretty cool if you ask me. Do you watch TV with that as well, Sub?

Meh Im getting HDTV even tho I guess I already have a HD tv cause I have a 23" Apple Cinema display which can do HD from what Im told....however I still have my doubts about projector Ive compared the two at my ultimate electronics store and the regualr hdtv still looked sharper....do you have any pics you can post??

Your right a projector is the way to go for good screen quality but mostly huge screen space for little cost. Who doesnt want a 100"+ screen for $1000? If you are looking to spend only a little bit of money a projector beats a rear-projection HDTV almost any day (projectors are not good in sunlight). I plan on setting up an entire room for a projector to make a sort of mini theater. Along with a surround system you dont even need to go to the movies again!

The problem with projectors is the price of bulbs. If you use one alot expect to be paying a small fortune in bulbs over the coming years.

(they're great to save for movies, or the occasional games session - but not something i'd use for any length of time on a daily basis)

I've been looking about for HDTV's - but still can't afford one. My current tv is 32", and to get a HDTV of comparable size will cost and arm and a leg.

I'm not bothering with any form of HDTV until it becomes standard and I can actually afford it. I am going to get a nice flatscreen TV in a few months though.
