Obviously you've all seen the PS3 and Xbox 360 specs and videos... well, then you know that HDTV is probably a good investment.
Well, I have some advice for people who are looking to have HDTV at a very affordable price. It's called a Projector.
First, let me say I had my doubts before I bought it, but OMFG it's amazing. I've had it for about a year and HDTV is insanely sharp. I've played an Xbox using 720p Halo 2 and it's super sharp. And what's even better is I only paid $900 for a 124" screen.
It's a cheap investment if you think about it. $900 for a 124" screen projected onto a white wall, a warranty so you can replace any broken bulbs within it. Not only that, if you have Comcast you can utilize the HD and non-HD channels. Gamecube and Xbox look amazing on it... plus the WOW factor.
To me, it's a lot better than spending $1500 on a dingy 45" widescreen when I can get the same quality on a 124" screen. It fills the whole wall, it's a little bit above 6 feet tall.
If you want to research it, go to www.infocus.com. I have the X1 which is a bit outdated... the newer versions support more options but the X1 is very nice if you want affordability+quality.
For reference I use:
* DVD
* Gamecube
* Xbox
* Computer
* Cable
* VCR
(I use a home theater box for all this plus a S-video switch for the VCR and Cube and a PC KVM switch for the cable box and computer.)
Sorry if this sounds like advertising... I'm just spreading the word about this less-known medium. Everyone is so excited when they get "big screen" TVs and us home theater afficianados are just sitting on the couch laughing at them while we watch our huge screens.
