HomeLAN - We saw one example of a drivable vehicle (a dune buggy) in the E3 demo. Will there be other drivable vehicles in the full game?

Gabe Newell - Yes.

** Old, I know, but alot of people seem to disbelieve that there will be more than 2 vehicles.. **

Yea, he could mean that there are only two, but I read it somewhere else that someone had confirmed there will be more. I'll try find it.

This confirms nothing, it just confirms there is more than one vehicle.

More than one = 2.

In the "Info From Valve" thread, I believe one of the employees specifies four or five vehicles, but doesn't say what they are (we only know two so far). The only clue we were given was that there weren't any air vehics.

i bet he is right ...

Four or Five vehicles...sweet.
I thought there was only Two.

Yea, just found this:

Valve's reply said:
What other vehicles will be featured? (Other than the two seen so far.)

*** Yes, but I can't give them away

There is the buggy, the jetsky and the airboat. that makes 3

I don't care about vehicles unless they have the control scheme like Halo PC. Otherwise it sucks to control vehicles in FPS.

Off-Topic: Is the barnacle enemy still in HL2? Or did that get canned as well?

God I hope not. Halo's PC vehicular controls sucked. One the reasons I didn't like the game as much as I might have. UT2k4 has the best vehicle controls on the PC.

how the godamn should anybody know if theres gonna be more than 2 phucking vehicles... HAS ANYBODY PLAYED THE FULL GAME!? DUH

Funny kid. Valve have, obviously, and that's where the source is from you illiterate moron.

I loved the Halo PC vehicle controls..it was so fun sliding around with the warthog...

I kind of want to play it again now :|

Yep, koncepts a moron

What about us who have the beta, or looking through the preload files, or that source that he JUST posted

this interview is old ... it still says they will make the sept 30 release date.. :)

My problem with the Halo controls was that the mouse actually turns the Warthog around. This does two things. It makes it so that you can't aim the turret in one direction and turn in another (important for the big tank), and it makes you constantly move the mouse around. Very annoying. The only vehicle it makes sense with is the hovercraft one.

In UT2k4, Battlefield 1942, and in the leak, you would turn the vehicle with the keys, and aim the turret with the mouse. Much better IMO.

I found it much more "intuitive" with Halo. It gets flippin confusing trying to steer and aim independently. So basically you have to give up aiming and shooting while driving, unless you go really slow.

At the very least, I will be happy if I can change the vehicle controls to Halo style. I can't do that in other FPS games that have vehicles.

The vehicles we know of so far are the buggy, airboat, jetski, possibly the combine jeep/apc things if they are drivable, and the crane we saw in the E3 videos, which is technically a vehicle. That makes 3-5 vehicles depending on whether the combine thing is drivable and whether they count the crane as a vehicle.

There may be 1 or 2 vehicles we haven't seen, but quite frankly I don't think there will be more drivable vehicles. Hopefully I am wrong, but it won't bother me much if those are the only vehicles. Afterall, what matters most is the experience that they present with the vehicles, and if there is a wide variety of things to do with the vehicles we have already seen, I won't be disappointed if I don't see new ones.

Halo had 4 usable vehicles in the single player game and I think they pulled off the experience brilliantly. Every time you got in a vehicle there were a lot of things to do and the experience was different every time. I kind of wish those covenant tanks were drivable though, they shouldn't show them to you if you can't use them. Hopefully all vehicles will be usable in Halo 2.

Personal preference. I would have no problem with there being an option too. But I will be very ticked if I am forced to not be able to aim properly. The only vehicles that should be Halo style (in my control mode) would be ones were the turret does not move.

Btw.. is there any confirmation of the jetski still being in the game. Didn't those leak monkeys say that they thought some arctic section of the game was cut?

Yea Evil^Milk, I think it was your reply actually :p

Never knew bout any confirmation about a jetski, so that's new to me haha o_O

I agree....

The Halo vehicle controls were good after you get used to it but I still prefer the standard PC game vehicle controls.

What about the mine cart things you could control in the original Half-life? Would they just take that type of vehicle out? I wouldn't think so..
