We seem to be very divided as far as wanting or not caring whether or not HL2 has adequate 'gore-factor'.

So for the record, where to the number stand?

TO RAGDOLL!!!! oh and watch the e3 2004 videos some of the bugs gib..

-merc

This is a duplicate thread. You could have made a poll - though I think that's been done before too.

I'd be sweet if someone made a fluid mod to have blood squirt of somones limbs, Kill Bill style. So far i've heard that the physics doesn't incorporate fluids.

what about the option "gibs and ragdoll-ing can co-exist" ??
there are pple that like both and would want both things in the game :p

Well, i guess you should just default to the fourth option then :p :E

I'm not voting because I agree with this man.

As we've seen in the videos, some models gib and others do not. What's to debate here?

It's ok. It wouldn't kill the game. But it's definitely a good reward for the effort taken in killing the monsters!

I think the debate is over 'universal gibbage'... I'm just providing a place for people to vote.

Good point. For all the effort that it must take to kill a Strider watching the legs go flying from a rocket hit would be pretty satisfying.

I wonder if Valve is a little cautious to make the game a gorefest. Games like SOF and Manhunt aren't exactly what dutiful parents like their kids playing. But then, it's easy to place the blame on censorship.

SOF2 was fun, so fun i will write a haiku to it

ah the USAS 12
the great full auto shotty
tore badguys in half

whatever works frankly, if Valve choose to have certain things gib and others not then it probably gives the best effect, they aren't just going for a senseless violence game but they want a bit of realism.

Don't really care either way. It would be nice to have a little bit, but it's not like I'll miss it.

gibs suck, it makes a game look retarded although it is classic and hilarious to gib a n00b with a crowbar in HL, but in the new gen games it looks crap. keep it in the old games and let it die.

I say both can co-exist at the same time. If they can't, then I want ragdolling.

I didn't vote for anything, since there wasn't an option I liked.
But I would like gibs, if the situation asks for it.

Not sure I care one way or the other. Some gibs are fun/cool but you can only take so much of that I guess.

As Ferd said above, I think gibs for certain times/areas/creatures to put emphasis on a certain situation would be good.

The gibbing in Bloodlines is really cool. (It's using source)

hey, i know, what about ragdolled gibs. they'de be sweet tbh. haveing a few of those little rubbery head/skull things bouncing around all over the place. hehe :p

I thought there was some locational body damage (a la SOF2) in the E3 videos.

You know where the zombie is sliced in half by that saw blade fired by the manipulator.

I don't know what the poll or the thread is about... but I voted for the "hard nipples" option!

Personally I'd like ot have both. It is very possible (and easy) to code it so if an enemy takes more than a certain amount of damage from a single hit (or he's at low health and gets hit with an explosion) he can gib. I'm not going to speak for the realism factor but suffice it to say that it can be done so that players see both ragdoll and gibbing deaths every once in a while.

I think that would be the best way to do it.
