To many Zombie movies

zombies should be faster than the old school Night of the Living Dead, but not running..more of a fast walk...

fresh zombies should be fastest, start slowing down due to rigor mortis, then speeding up a little bit once rigor has been broken up..

oh yeah just for a laugh..or is it? ;) http://www.fvza.org/zombies.html

Don`t get me wrong, I did enjoy the remake of DOTD, it was much better than people where giving it credit for, but, I didn`t like the fact they put in fast zombies because 28 Days Later`s monsters ran and looked cool, like it`s been said, they weren`t zombies, so why make zombies run fast, they are rotting, makes no sense.
didn`t like the fella and his pregnant wife, the film coulda done without them.
The voilence was better in the remake too, the bit when he blew the gun shop blokes head in half was good.

The original gave you sense of what the world was like outside of the shopping mall and the town it was in, like the whole world had been messed up, the remake never really gave me that impression.
The characters in the original were also better
agreed. hollywoodized to the max with the pregnant woman and zombie baby, and they shouldn't have been able to run. But still fkn awesome.

Any movie made by George A. Romero is going to be kickass.

Land of the Dead wont be your every day zombie movie. Its going to be a lot more.

Plus all major Zombie movies have there own unique style.

yes ripping and tearing..but mostly beating people to death..the undead hunger, but the angry beat the shit out of people...

and I'm not sure if it was a different trailer for Land of the Dead (or some other flick entirely) but I could swear one of the zombies had a gun held as though "it" knew how to shoot...

They probably became smarter. If you ever read zombie books or comics, they usually show the zombies becoming a little smarter as time passes on. Some remember things they used to do in their former life, like a police officer zombiefied might still pick up a gun once in a while. In the comic "Remains" the zombies eventually learn how to talk.

And I agree with what the remake of DOTD did. It was good, but the running zombies was so retarded. Zombies can't run. And the characters weren't very well fleshed out. In the original, the character's changed. Roger went from cautious everyman to psychotic zombie killer and met his demise because of his arrogance. And when the looters attack the mall! How the hell could you leave that out, that's the best part in the movie. And of course, my favorite quote from the movie "Instinct. This was an important place in their lives." or whatever to that effect.

Why does it not make sense for zombies to run?

because they are corpses with decomposing and/or broken legs & bad motor skills due to missing most higher brain functions.

I think the thing with the zombies having guns in LOTD stems from it`s earlier prequal DayOTD when the doctor fella trains "bubba" or whatever his name was to remember his earlier days before he was a zombie.

He remembers to salute the US Army badge, how to use a gun, and in the end, when he found his trainer dead, he hunted and caused the death of his killer, without even attacking him, he just let the other zombies suprise him from behind while he held a gun to him, then turned around and walked away refusing to join the army guy meal with the other zombies.

I think Romero will be building on this in LOTD, and lets face it, he pratcally invented zombies, so he can add this and if it`s done with care he will make it a good evolution of the zombies.

Yeah, one of the zombies in the trailer is definetly using a gun (Steyr AUG I believe). Like I said, zombies will evolve and I can't wait to see how they've become smarter. Should be exciting. And it all happens this Friday! Anyone else seeing LOTD Friday?

ill be seeing it wednesday (U.S. debut showing with Romero in attendence... thats right im still bragging).

why, because its gonna finish off romero's zombie masterpiece's!! THAT WHY BIATCH!! lol jk

PEACE

That.... looks gooooood.

Seriously, I want to see this.

the older trailer is more refined in appearance...but really has nothing to do with the episodes we are doing

For me, zombie movies never get old. I usually always say "Oh great another one of those kind of movies!", but I never say that for zombie movies.

i like the new one in your sig much more than the old one that was on that site. looks interesting, please keep us posted about your progress. btw, what is your role in this series?

nice to see some interest!

been pretty busy lately..get up at 6 am..go editing..get home between 2 and 4 am,rinse wash and repeat!

and now to your question..

currently I have been designated as the Lead Editing Intern...I have also been a Zombie extra...and apparently I have been written into an episode recently..no idea how much of a role at this time, but apparently it is a speaking role..

the old trailer was more refined as a finished product..but you are right, the new one is better..just needs some fine-tuning..it feels weird to watch it because I was there when it was filmed..

the site or possibly a new one will have some more info soon..more merchandise as well..watch out for the littlest zombie..that kids great!

off to meet TV execs in Los Angeles!! wish luck to us and the show!!

hope to post some good news about it tomorrow...

its ALL about ZOMBIES!!!!

the meeting went beautifully!! they were very impressed with all that we had brought to show them.. I can't really talk to much about what went on,but just know it is good!

and something about thousands of zombies... ;)

again thank you for your interest and support!

The original DotD was way better than the new one...by far.
The new one is like mainstreamed for today's generation.

I fear that Land of the Dead is going to be a flop...
For music it'll probably be rap or metal, for dialogue it'll use ebonics, for characters probably all stereotypes of todays youth. :(

Here's a nice example of what I was waiting for someone to say...
A lot of people will probably say, that The Night of the Living Dead is the BEST zombie movie ever because it's the original and it's how George A. Romero wanted it to be - fair enough... but I don't believe in that statement when most young people say this. They're just trying to be OLD SKO0L pretending they actually like this old piece of shit! I bought it for just about nothing to see what the fuzz was about. When it was done I just sat there staring into my TV with the feeling that I must have missed out on something because I would much rather have spent 8 hours in a camel's colon than have watched that piece of shit! I can see why older people or just grown ups would enjoy this movie since this is what they grew up with, and back when it was released it was a ****ing masterpiece and very innovative. The same goes for me about Star Wars. But if you watch NotLD today then there's absolutely nothing new under the sun! I'd go as far as to say I would much rather watch Resident Evil again than watching Night of the Living Dead.
And about Dawn of the Dead...
A couple of weeks ago I bought Trilogy of the Dead, because I new the newer zombie movies by Romero were a bit better - how could they not be? - and I also knew that Land of the Dead was just around the corner, so why not give it a try? Under any circumstance I had to know the story to watch Land of the Dead. So as you might have figured out I DIDN'T watch Night of the Living Dead again, I just jumped directly to Dawn of the Dead. It started out alright and it was actually looking as if it was going somewhere and as if it was a bit scarier than NotLD - but no. As soon as they enter the mall it turns into a ****ing freak circus! The music is extremely jolly considering the situation they're in, and the characters are practically making fun of the zombies throughout the movies such as running around teasing the slow ****ers and smacking butt of their rifles in their faces.
Day of the Dead on the other hand is a lot better, even though the acting is still ****ing horrible as ever, but it seemed as if Romero actually had an idea with the story behind Day of the Dead.
About Dawn of the Dead 2004 - ok it's fair enough to say that the story is extremely weak, but it's without a doubt a lot more entertaining than the original! The zombies are a lot more active than in the original and the whole idea of them running instead of just goofing around like stoned waxfigures goes a loooong way!

LOL. Wow, you missed the entire point of the original DOTD. The whole point was for it to turn into a freak circus, to show how humans would act in paradise and how humans would ruin paradise as well consumerism and such.

However, Day of the Dead was a little better.

Of course Night Of The Living Dead is going to look dated now, it seems to have nothing new beacause so many horror movies ripped it off, and no doubt you`ve seen them first.
For the time it was the first thing to ever come along like that, and for that reason, it will remembered by purists of the zombie genre as the moment that started it all. Yes, a masterpiece, but no, if your the type that loves to watch flashy camera switches and lighing, then you really won`t get anything out of it, it`s about the horror of the situation and being helpless.
If you want something more recent, try the remake of this, it`s very good due to the fact of staying true to the formula, except for changing the female charachter to a Ripley-a-like.

Dawn Of The Dead, right, you have clearly missed the point of all this, yes, it`s a horror, but it`s also a social statement.
These people create thier own little haven in the shopping mall, they are barracaded into a place that has everything they will ever need, while being completely safe from the dangers outside (so they think).
The so called "jolly music" is to help show that even though the world has gone to shit, people are still capable of making the best of a situation.
The people make fun of them because they believe they are just an annoyance, they underestimate them, which is the creampie shenanigans etc.
They soon learn that they shouldn`t have though when they begin tearing them a new one.
The middle of the movie is basically showing 2 things, the rutt that people get stuck in, witnessed even when they are dead, they still come to the supermarket, because it`s the one thing they can remember, which goes a way to saying that this was the thing that matters most to most of these people when they were alive, not even death stops them.
the other is the human nature. The way we think we are superior to everything else.

DOTD 2004 - hmmm, the story is weak? well, no, it`s based on the orginal, and that story is in no way weak. The execution of said story is where the problem lies.
The Zombie baby - not needed
The Whole underground car lot - not needed
The Dog - ?????????????

See, the little bits ruined the film, not beyond making it unwatchable.

The running is better you mean???? How fast could you run with your legs and muscles rotting? not very.
The whole idea of them being so slow is that people get complacent with this enemy......cocky.
There`s no room to do that in the re-make, they just carry on coming, it ruins everything that zombie franchises have built up over the years, just so it can look cool next to 28 Days Later, which isn`t even a zombie movie, that`s how much the people that remade this film understand about what`s gone before.
People who thing that zombies running is an improvement really shouldn`t be allowed to watch the original, as they have clearly missed the point of what made them so great.

stemot is wise!! he speaks truth and wisdom about the zombie genre..

Frank doesn't seem to understand horror as opposed to gore/splatter

no offense intended Frank, its just how I interpreted your post!

too many zombie movies? ahahahahah your crazy...

"their us, and were them."

PEACE
