As an ordinary gamer who thoroughly enjoyed Half-Life, actually I was blown away by it, like many others. It was the "First" FPS I played, although I was long time gamer, and loved adventure games, hate Quake and its clone. Half-Life changed it for me, I have enjoyed many FPS after it, and to be honest I was not waiting for Half-Life 2 :)

Then came the announcement, and like everyone I was part of the hype, searching web for any news regarding Half Life 2, downloading countless movies. It was different from Half Life, I didn't know about Half Life till it was released, so quite different experience.

Before 30th September, delay was announced, it was not a problem for me, and I am sure almost everyone who is playing games from last 10 years or so, this always happens games get delayed, but ultimately they are released so at least for me it was normal, because of the hope that one day I will be able to play Half Life 2.

Then this whole mess of theft started, beta and other stupidity. This is what that got me worried. I love Half Life. I love Gordon Freeman. I treasure the moments when I first played Half-Life, but my only worry is, will I ever be able to play Half Life 2? Will it be released? I don't care about the release date, it is not important, as long as it is going to be released, but all these recent events have put the game in great jeopardy. Can Valve at least assure that "Yes! Half Life 2 will be released sometime in the future, with all the features, and game play experience we promised"? Can they?

When I recall the announcement of Half Life 2, I still get thrilled. Just a single image, white background, with Gordon walking with crowbar. I still have it on my desktop, because for me it is really special, one of the best concept art I have ever seen. I don't know how long it will remain on my desktop, but one thing for sure; I will continue to wait for Half Life 2. I am hoping that one day Valve will speak...

I have been anticipating Half Life 2 for so long, and so much, that in January 2002 I bought a new computer in the HOPES that HL2 would soon be announced. And a little over a year later when the news started to break, I nearly jumped through the roof with excitement. I long for the day when I can sit down and start smashing headcrabs again.......

Next time email valve instead of posting it here because no one cares, sorry.

Now, now, no need for that. But yeah, it'd make sense if you emailed things that are addressed to valve... erm... to valve. I don't think they read these forums often ;)

Gabe does come to the forums so i guess he cares. Now, if u dont like his post just move on.

Naveed, the same thing happened to me.I had never played a FPS until hl came along and i actully hated quake like games. All i did before that was play diablo and warcraft.

dude, you have issues. and i agree, email this to gabe, no one cares.

And duh of course it will be released. I doubt you've been playing games for 10 years just because of the fact I dont think you're even 10 years old, after reading this statement. Do you have any ideas of economics? Do you know how expensive it would be to just abandon this project?

In my gaming life, I have seen many projects getting cancelled, even when they were about to go gold. Remember "Warcraft Adventure" or "Star trek : Secret of Valcun ...." ... they were really high profile games, and highly anticipated. But may be you are right Half Life 2 is an exception because Valve may depend on it too much, and they will ultimately release it. But will it be the same?

Valve is too far a long to just drop everything and quit. They have too much riding on this, such as their reputation. If they don't release then a lot of people will loose trust with them and would never by a game made by them.

chu - as stated in the sticky at the top of this forum, responses like that aren't going to be tolerated. Please don't do it again, we're a community, not a bunch of girls that bitch at each other.

SlipperyNipple - same for you buddy.

Naveed - The game will be released and only when it's ready. If you want Valve to read this then send it to [email protected]
