Where do you think todays music is headed? I dont like 99% of it and I really hope it gets better as the decade goes on. Might have to wait til the 2010s or, I REALLY hope not, the 2020s for good music to become popular again.

lol, you haven't said what's good and what's bad by your opinion

there are tons of bands, surely you like some

I'm looking forward to the future of music. People my age that hate todays music will be the ones that are in the bands, and they'll bring back some decent rock to the world.

None of this The Killers/Franz Ferdinand/Coldplay/Keane rubbish.

Failing my generation bringing back good rock, Layne Staley will resurrect and kick some major ass.

When we mean popular music we refer to chart stuff right? i.e gangsta rap, rnb, pop and alternate pop.

In that case yes I hope it changes but well it doesn't seem likely, at least we can complain about the music played and be elitists :D

older music is always going to be better. nowadays its all about bands who get their money through their looks and miming...they cant actually sing. i mean, look at bands like Westlife...lmao...

but there IS some good music out there. i could listen to Incubus's slow music ALL day long without getting bored, but thats because i like slower rock music, aswell as acoustic upbeat songs.

but most music now is **** basically...franz ferdinand is a joke, killers are just plain annoying, and the choruses on all songs are so plain and repetative.

r&b, rap etc...i say no more as there are children here...but their music is just played over and over during the song, and it usually comprises of one cord or annoying sounds....

old music is coming back, and i hope it stays

BTW U2 ROCK...**** Y'ALL IF YOU DOUBT ME!! :E

Man is this an old conversation. People have been saying that the music nowdays sucks and will only get worse since Elvis took the stage. "The Music Right Now" isn't a single entity, its the same mish-mash of groups that has always been around. You've got your popular bands, your counter-culture bands, your folk bands, your niche bands, etc.
I don't have a problem with music right now, I still think theres good stuff to be found, just like always. It all depends on how hard you look.
A note: I'm a big fan of U2, and The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Pink Floyd, but I like both the Killers and Franz Ferdinand. They're not as classic, but they certainly have more redeeming value than half the popular music out there.

Because we all know that those bands can never go stale. :p

Haven't gone stale for me. After all, it is my personal preference is it not? I mean jeez, I could be doing much worse listening to those stale industrial rock bands. :cat:

Well rock's gonna be around for time. People just dig those guitars.

I think with how the polutical climates going now we're gonna have increased amounts of hard, complaining, rock music about it. And rappers rappin' bout how tuff it is gettin' by while George W Bush bombs foreigners instead of helpin him out - dawg.

With computer technology still goin strong I think synthesised music will be knocking around for some time. Techno, trance, dance will likely start to merge; already seen in Freeform hardcore, but it all depends on whether or not the suits can get their heads around released good hardcore tunes, and not getting out a crap one, gutting it, then releasing it for 12year old girls to listen to at discos. GRRRR.

Where's music goin? Who knows. Let's just enjot what we've got.... that's worth enjoying that is.
