I don't know who here remembers these games all too well, but Tokyo Extreme Racer, TER:Z, and TER:3 were all great racing games. TER was for the Dreamcast, and the other 2 were for the PS2. They were the first innovative design of the style your car, soup it up, and race around highways challenging random cars, gangs, etc.. These were probably the best games. I used to love to play them. I always remember driving around, and I would spot a crazy looking car.. I challenge it, and it would be a "Wanderer".. We would start... And well, I would get burnt because those cars were THE best in the game. Anyway, I would really like to play another game like these, but failed to come across any. I will be getting Need For Speed 2: Underground soon, and I will more than likely get Juiced when it comes out. But are these games like TER? The gameplay style of TER was so unique and perfect. It has just been hard to come across another game like those. I don't like the regular closed circuit, lets race around a track type of game. I want a more open game with the ability to fully customize the look/power of your car.

Suggestions and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry don't know about any fully customizable racing games like that, but I promise you that Burnout 3 will satisfy any racing needs :)

I loved Tokyo Xtreme Racer for Dreamcast - beat it 2 times.

Burnout is lame - like a one-legged horse

Get Need For Speed Underground 2 - its cool. Also Forza Motorsport for Xbox is like that with body kits

Wooaaah, now lets not jump to conclusions, are you sure you don't want to take back what you just said? :flame:

Fine, fare enough but can't you admit that its just a little fun? :(

Whether or not a game is fun or not is the entire point - is it not?
(the point of a game is to be fun)

So for me to say a game is horrible, that means its no fun.

Like I said, others on the forum will disagree with me, actually disagree-ing with me seems to be the norm around here.

Ok, so you don't find the game fun at all. It's just that I have never met someone who thinks Burnout 3 is totally crap. :)

I remember playing the first Burnout. I hated it. I mean it was ok when it came to the crashes, but that just happened every other second. I would rather have a racing game that is revolved around racing and not crashing.

Like I said, I will be getting Need For Speed Underground 2 soon. I just need to get cash.

More suggestions would be helpful... And I do not want fighting. :)

/opens up dreamcast

Guess whats in it ;)

Yeah I loved the series myself, then got into GT4, but my FAV version of TER is still the second TER on dreamcast. :E

Heh, I was really surprised when I popped into the gaming forum and saw this thread, brings back memories....Some good, and some "throw the controller against the wall and punt the dreamcast out the window" bad.

The thing about TER was that you had to work your ass off to get the cash necessary to upgrade your car. When you put a twin turbo on your car it felt like a major accomplishment, not just like you were spending chump change. Not only that, but the game was actually challenging. Some of the races I only won because my opponent ran into a traffic car or something.

And besides the winning moments, there were the many many more numerous losing moments, where maybe I misjudged my car's cornering abilitiy, or its top speed, or I slammed into the back of a truck.

What ultimately killed the game for me though, was a bug I kept running into. I would get so far in the game, and then no new racers would show up. I looked on FAQs for the game and found out who was supposed to show up and where but he never would. So I never got to beat the game, which was irritating to say the least.
