Hey guys why don't we think that maybe Valve is making their big gone gold anouncement in Space World, maybe they finish the game make it gold a few days before like Wednesday o Thursday, heck it could be gold and in reproduction by now. And on Friday after the anouncement start shipping.
I even think that they maybe have finished the game sometime ago and they are just toying a little with us, waiting to make statements on the last few days. I really think everything will be revealed on Friday.
But seriously guys do you think that if they were still struggling to get the game done, with all their strenght would they allow a visit to their offices, or going to the Tokyo Space World which is always a video-game not a PC event. I think Valve is going to Japan and something big will happen and I think we'll get our sept 30th release date confirmed and maybe some new media? Despite what Gabe replied in the info from Valve forum, maybe?

Yea, I guess I could agree with you. But what about spitcods announcement? On the game predownloading onto HD's for those who preorderd it via steam. I mean if his statement is true, then this would play a BIG factor in determining it's release date.

Decent speculation.

My thoughts throughout this mess have been that valve most definatly has a team of highly trained public relations specialists. Unless there is some strange new statistic proving silence in the time of demand proves to be lucrative, im at a complete loss of explanation other than we will be playing this game on the 30th.

Let us all just hope that they care about their player base more than letting us build all of this hype through false hope.

yep. I can imagine them not announcing "its gold" until the day before shipping, but steam may be a different story. Still a couple of days left.

Thats another thing - I heard somewhere that Steam will yet again be updated, to enable that option. The coding is THERE in the program, but its not activated. An update will activate it I think.

Reasons why I'm not really believing the whole pre-load of HL2 onto steam a week before release thing.

I know Gabe told Spitcodfry directly about this, but remember back when someone e-mailed Gabe asking about the Alcatraz event and Gabe didn't have any idea what he was talking about? And only later did Gabe confirm it, after he was finally told about the event?

I think what may have happened is that Gabe told spitcodfry those plans to release the game early, but then the plans got cancelled for one reason or another, and Gabe didn't know, and hasn't said anything cuz he's too busy (notice when the last Valve e-mail was?! yeesh!)

Let's just sit and wait.

The whole gone gold speculation and release dates are just rumours.. If Valve is going to release the game, it will be after nVidia gets it's v50 drivers out the door to make the game more playable on millions of computers that are using their graphics cards. I am sure that Valve will announce a release date after they are out which could be a while yet.

Just wait and see and stop posting theories of what is going on when nobody really knows.

And isn't it funny they aren't yet? Problems probably arose and now they are delayed..

Could be why no info on release for HL2..

But of course this is just speculation.

I was just thinking about the poor dx 9 performance with nvidia cards a la shader day...and thought what if the game was delayed because of pressure put on valve from nvidia? imagine reps and the like calling day and night making threats to the company; being serious here, mind you. valve couldn't really do anything about this though, seeing as its the hardware that is being limited...not the game.

At this point, there are a few speculations.

1. Being the 50 Det's.
2. Steam being tweaked and updated
3. natural cause - as in programming error, some bug they found.

Ok, I didn't read you post word-for-word, but I do think it's possible that Valve will announce something at the Japan Show. I'm not gonna say "here's to hoping" because last time I said that I think Gabe heard me and there was no announcement. :cheers:
