Tony blair calls for bigger role of faith

Blair was a tard when in office.... glad to see he's not done a u-turn on that policy whilst out of office :/

...although i have more respect for blair right now than i do for Gordon 'holy shit i actually got the job of prime minister! LOL!' Brown

Tony Blair just won't stay dead, will he? Freaking zombie.

i'll give a cookie with chocolate chips on top and some nice warm milk to whoever kicks Blair in the nuts

Thankfully Blair isn't in a position of power or influence at all so I speak on the greater half of the British public when I say Blair, you can go suck it *flip the bird*.

:bounce:

I thought Blair already was a Catholic. I know he supported faith schools in the name of diversity, though. Idiot.

Thankfully Blair isn't in a position of power or influence at all

I wouldn't say that at all. He's got various cronies in governmental organisations around the world and he's got jobs in the top investment banks.
He's also on track to the president of Europe.

On the contrary, he has far too much power and influence.

I respect that he refrained from pushing this faith crap when he was PM.

I respect that he refrained from pushing this faith crap when he was PM.

I begrudgingly give I'm that, though he was a bad PM anyway so he still net-loses points.

Kirovman, you could assasinate hi then, I'll totally not testify against yo in court proceedings or nothing. :)

Faith, hmm:

"I'm convinced I'm right even though I don't have any evidence for it."

Sounds a bit like:

"I'm convinced there's weapons of mass destruction in Iraq even though there is no evidence for it."

Right Blair?

I struggle to even comprehend how "faith" can be construed as a positive or admirable thing.

I've spent a lot of time thinking about it.

It can't.

If you have faith in something and it turns out you were right, it must have been luck because there was no indication that you would be right, due to lack of reason. If it turns out you were wrong, pray to your god that you didn't make any decisions affecting others based on that faith.

Faith is just another word for gambling. So a large part of the world has a gambling problem.

A funny bit I read a while ago, paraphrased:
"I normally use the word 'belief' when I'm not sure about something. How would you feel if the doctor told you he believed that your leg should come off?"

I see faith, fate and luck as the same thing in some ways. Cant say i believe in either to be honest, but im a complete atheist too so...guess that kinda makes my answer for me.

He's not a muslim so this is no big deal.

I find it amazing that in the UK politicians feel weird talking about faith, you guys should be really proud of that. I don't know that you could say that about most other countries so kudos to you.
