tools/toolsblockbullets doesn't block bullets

I have created an unbreakable pane of glass that is 5 deep (glass textured on one side, brick on the other -- like a one-way window).

The problem I'm having is with the thickness (or lack thereof), bullets go through it. So I drew in a block with the tools/toolsblockbullets texture and put the block inside the glass func_breakable entity. The block is 1 thick. I can still shoot through the glass. :sniper:

HOWEVER, if I render the map WITHOUT the glass and leave the tools/toolsblockbullets, bullets are stopped.

Put the toolsblockbullets just in front of the pane of glass, on either side :)

Wouldn't that stop the bullets just before they hit the window? That would look weird, to say the least. Firing at a window and getting no bullet marks or anything.

that's what I was thinking....I tried putting it on either side, and of course, it causes bullet holes to not appear on one side of the glass

You could have two panes of glass with a bullet blocker in the middle?

Double glazing!

ya, i thought of that...but then it would LOOK like two panes of glass

I ended up settling for making the glass 16 thick....that stopped the bullets :-(

what if you make the glass, 1 unit thick, then a 1 unit thick blockbullets, then another 1 unit thick glass.

Probably shouldnt notice the two panes.

I would think that 16 thickness would look worse than no bullet marks, but ok. Whatever.

thx flippage....that's what I ended up doing because I also had a light leak and is was annoying me so I put an extra 1 unit thick block light brush in the same position as the block bullets

Another thing you could do: tie an entity to the brush, like func_wall, maybe it will work then because the bullet blocker isn't inside a brush anymore but in an entity. Very speculative, but it might work.
