That's right and wrong ^^. The US Squaresoft's failure to release Final Fantasises 2,3 and 5 in the Nintendo era forced them to cover up the fact that they'd missed them out: Final Fantasy 4 became Final Fantasy 2, Final Fantasy 6 (the one you describe) became Final Fantasy 3.

When they switched to Sony for the 32/64 bit Era, Sony reinstated the original numbering system so the casual FF gamer suddenly thought the games had jumped from 3 to 7! From there, Square/Square-Enix have rehashed and rereleased the Nintendo era titles under their proper names: interestingly, the only exception is the real FF3, which still hasn't been released outside of Japan...

And yeah, Kefka was kind of cool

Yeah, Gordon definitely lacks personality...come to think of it, so does MC. He hardly has any lines but the I like how marines greet you saying things like, "I didn't think they'd send a Spartan" and get all excited when they see you're reinforcing them. Not to mention he wears the coolest armor I've seen in a video game as of late.

I see lots of parallels that MC has with Gordon in HL2 but I think the praise MC gets is more justified than the praise Gordon gets and MC is a fighting machine whereas Gordon was just a geek that somehow knows how to handle any real or imaginable gun he's presented with.
