Top of the line comp! help plz

Ok guys since the announcement of HL2 being delayed it gives me some time to get a whole new top of the line comp,Mainly cpu, motherboard ram and graphx card (most likely will get the 9800xt)

so my questions are

1.What is the fastest Cpu speed right now?For AMD and Intel.. Will they come out with a faster speed between now and december?

2.What motherboard is a good choice for either AMD or intel?

3.WHat ram?

4.9800xt or do u think nvidia will come out with something better?

Any comments and suggestions are welcomed.

No...Mostly in gamming but P4EE beat it in about every other test.

AMD Athlon 64 FX 51 is the best CPU currently launched and available.
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ is right up there with great performance, especially in games and both are being sold right now.
P4 3.2ghz C is Intels fastest chip that you can buy, sadly it isnt the fastest cpu anymore.
P4 EE is a paper launch...it isnt out yet (if it ever will be).
It's been said that when it does come out in good supply a few months down the road, Dell will get the parts.
P4 EE is priced at ~ $800
Athlon 64 FX 51 is on Newegg.com for $765
Athlon 64 3200+ $433.
If you are going to buy soon and looking at AMD64 series...get a VIA chipset and currently performs the best.
Nforce3 has a glitch, i believe is with the AGP, but a new revision or drivers down the road should fix the problem.

What, do you work for Tom's Hardware?
AMD64 has the top marks, read everyother review site and it will disagree with Tom's. I suggest aceshardware.com or other trustworthy sites :thumbs:
If you know your hardware, you can find faults with how Tom benches and the bias.

HL2 is said to utilize hyperthreading.

Intel's answer to the AMD 64 is the Pentium 4 - EE, which is highly efficient in gaming.
