I didn't have any damage or flooding around me. Back yard was a little wet, but nothing else. Richard probably has some rocking pictures.
(CNN) -- At least 20 people were killed Saturday in Oklahoma and Missouri as tornadoes and other severe weather swept across the Midwest, according to emergency management agencies in both states.
"We've seen homes that were completely leveled to the foundation," Brown said. "In a few of these homes you would have had to be subterranean to survive."
http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/weather/05/10/tornado.deaths/index.html"It looks like a war zone," she said. "Some homes have fallen in, some homes have lost roofs, and some are now just slabs."

Early in 1998 several tornadoes went through Florida after midnight, our house took a direct hit from an F4 and was completely destroyed around us. All 5 of us were in our beds when it happened, and only woke up during and after it hit, and none of us were even injured by it (only me and my dad were indirectly injured by stepping on some glass/nails getting out of the wreckage).
no pix
i would go take pics of the rubble..
but im going to see enough of that for the next few weeks (working at the news station) that i think ill just pass.
a friend of mine said picher, OK is completely leveled.
shit sucks.
Environment
Picher has become notable because it is located very near the United States Environmental Protection Agency's Tar Creek Superfund site. The site was contaminated decades ago from underground lead and zinc mining. Chat piles left behind by the mining companies have lead dust that has blown around the town. Elevated lead levels in Picher children have led to learning disabilities and other problems. The lead and zinc have also seeped into groundwater, ponds, and lakes, many of which still have children swimming in them. The children of Picher have been found to have toxic levels of lead in their bodies, the EPA has since declared Picher to be one of the most toxic areas in the United States.[3][5]
Currently the future of site is a controversial political issue. U.S. Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK), supports cleaning up the site with a $45 million cleanup plan, to be executed by the EPA, the Department of the Interior, and two of the responsible mining companies.[citation needed]
U.S. Representative Brad Carson (D-OK), supports buying out the families at the center of the site and moving them to a safer location. The Oklahoma Legislature has earmarked $3 million to move families that have children under 6 years of age.[citation needed]
Other areas affected by Tar Creek mining include Cardin, Miami, North Miami and Quapaw.[citation needed]
On April 24, 2006, Reuters reported that Picher had been scheduled to be closed and all residents removed. Due in large part to the heavy mining, many of the town's structures have been deemed in imminent danger of caving in.[6]
The town pharmacist Gary Linderman was featured in the May 28, 2007, issue of People Magazine in the Heroes Among Us article "Prescription for Kindness". He vowed to stay as long as there was anyone left who needed him and to be the last one out of town.[7]
Picher was featured in the PBS Independent Lens film The Creek Runs Red discussing the connection of the people and their desire to leave or stay in town.[8]
Protect the RX-8, at all costs
At the very least, keep detailed blueprints of its rotary engine so future generations can develop and enhance it.
