Is there tracers in dod:s? And doest it use hitbox system? Im envious to you if it has tracers cause cs source dont have them.

Yeh, this souds stupid question and i know it is but i just wanna know this :p

dods >> css
yeah I see tracers all the time.. even some non-mg guns have them

Yes tracers are in DoD, and yes DoD is in my view more fun than CSS (although I used to play css loads).
The MGs release a torrent of bullets which you can see. Pretty cool

I don't think they actually used tracers in WW2 for MG's did they? I think they added it inorder to have some balance to the gun.

All autos in DoD:S seem to have tracers...pretty unrealistic, but nice to watch in-game.

tracers in WW2 were so AA guns could see planes in the dark (am i right?)

In the game they're there so you can see where you buddy just got ripped to shreds from

Synthos is correct. Tracers were implemented on most AA guns. I honestly don't know if they were in MGs, I think they were, but generally on every 10th round or something.

In game it seems to be every 4th or 5th round maybe? Unrealistic, sure, but fun as hell to watch. Plus, its necessary to insure a hidden MG doesn't tear your team apart for 10 minutes straight.

Mmm yeah, that's why you can't really go stealth too well. Have to take out everyone all at once.

Machineguns had tracers so the gunners could see where there shots were going. Every third or 5th round or something.

Aircraft had tracers for the same reason, so pilot could see where he was shootng.

AA/Flak also of course, so the gunners could see where there shots were going.

So its not really unrealistic for machineguns, for small arms it is though.

Do tracers make bullets heavier by a margin? Or is it just, because they cost more to make?

Yea, MGs should have tracers, but the reason why it's unrealistic in dod:s is that almost every single MG round is a tracer.

...but it's just a game, so I don't care, it looks purty.

damn, why they cant add them in css?

:( I wanna play dod:s!!!

edit: anyone has screenshots? plz, underhill needs a screenshot :)

Not really. Tracers are pretty much bullets covered in special flourescant paint that the eye sees better. It doesn't make a difference to the actual shot itself.

You are able to add tracers in CS. Well, CS 1.6 anyway. I remember playing on servers where the admin added tracer bullets to certain weapons.

Where i can download these in css? Do you know that?

Or has css tracer plugin or something like that. It would be cool

Sorry, man. I have no idea where you can find them. And it was a pretty long time since i played on a server like that. It might have been on 1.5 even :(

:( Damn, i would love to see tracers in cs source. I hope thta valve would add them in rifles and m249..

I dont think that it would matter that much in CS: Source. Its too fast gameplay, and you can always see where the enemy is anyway. It looks cool though. Especially if they could give tracers some kind of HDR-support.

That way if someone unloaded a magazine in a dark area, they'd be a little bit blinded because their eyes focus on the light, and make everything dark invisible.

in ww2 tracers were only from machineguns...i don't know what the heck is this crap coming out of the rifles and smgs...but they're probably there to add a "cool" factor which is pretty stupid to me.

They're there to let enemy players know where you are to an extent; with a gameplay type like DoD:S where 3 bullets are lethal, it would be a mistake not to add tracers to auto-fire.

Besides, if you're going for realism you shouldn't be playing DoD:S anyway

Eh, not quite... but close. Tracers are a bit different from regular full metal jacket ammo (or ball, as the military calls it) in that is has a hollow base filled with a luminous compound like phosphorus, that ignites after the round is fired and burns brightly out to a couple hundred yards. The orange paint on the tip of the bullet just designates it as a tracer. The tracer bullet is also longer to make up for lost weight since the compound in the base is not nearly as heavy as a solid lead core.

On belted ammunition tracers are usually linked in a 1:4 ratio with ball ammo, every fifth round is a tracer to help the gunner adjust fire to the target. Now in WWII, tracer ammo would have been availible for regular infantry small arms like rifles and submachine guns (even pistols) to be loaded with tracers, but it wouldn't have been practical.

Tracers on the M249 in CS:S would be neat though. :D
