Traditional war for land in Africa (lol)

I dunno about that. Guns are way less painful then swords and arrows. Besides, they're cleaner and easier to treat, seeing as they don't completely **** up your entrails.

THAT'S THE POINT!

fighting melee takes balls, that's why only some people have the balls to do it. shooting guns from 200m is for pussies and most people can do it.

With rifles and guns warfare becomes more of an art and skill rather than sheer guts. That doesn't mean that it doesn't take balls to fight the enemy head-on, especially since this time you might not be able to defend yourself.

ITT - Jverne is the ultimate warrior.

actually no...i'd piss my pants if some crazy person came running with a sword.

very artistic.

looks as if nobody gets what i'm saying...war is hell, one way or another. BUT! if people would fight the old fashion way they'd quickly realize it's not that fun to do.

When is war ever artistic other than glamorized media depictions and canned political speeches?

Art implies the creation(s) of human creativity, not the result of depravity and suffering after eons of tribal warfare.

In b4 Sun Tzu

Come on, bro. It's not a maybe. "Fighting with swords and bows will make people consider that war is hell and they won't want to do it anymore?"

You think that there was one war thousands of years ago and the armies were like, "HOLY SHIT THIS HURTS HEY EVERYBODY STOP. STOP. THIS ISN'T COOL," and then no war happened until the gun was invented? Think about what you're saying here.

Wut?

Warfare has never been about "sheer guts". Positioning, force balance and manuver always have and always will count for far more than that. In these photos, for example, it would appear that one side has managed to secure the high ground giving them a significant advantage in this batte.

Doesn't matter if you're fighting with XM1337BBQ uber weapons or pointy sticks, the tennets of warfare promoted by the likes of Sun Tzu and Clauswitz always apply.

That fuckin' book. Sun Tzu's great stuff, but reading his book is like reading See Spot Run compared to Principles of War.
