Trailer for Treme- from the creator of The Wire

saw some of these teasers a few weeks back, not sure if that trailer is what i've already seen as the HBO site hates my browser but either way, looking very good.

Looks pretty interesting. I see the two guys who played Lester and Bunk are in this, and dare I ****ing say... John Goodman? Wow. I just wonder if this will be more popular than The Wire.

has this aired in the US yet? how was it?

i'm so ****ing looking forward to getting back to uni and watching it next week.

I haven't seen it yet, but pretty pumped. Airs in around 3 hours for me.

just watched the first episode - absolutely amazing. i felt tears during the opening and closing of the show, it was all just so uplifting and positive amongst all the ruin, and the ending so mournful which really brings everything home.

a part of me wants to say it's difficult for me to see where this is going, but that's thinking straight from watching the wire. there is no target, no detail, no drug dealer to put behind bars, but there are other things at stake here, things just as important as avon barksdale or jimmy mcnulty - the lost brother, the shortage of money, a hopeless case against the true cause of destruction post katrina, a enthusiasts desire for something more in music, the regrouping of a tribe... i'm so excited to see more, it's unbelievable.

david simon delivers yet again. i think it's a ****ing shame this thread hasn't any more attention irregardless of whether people in the UK can't see it. a whole bunch of elitists in this forum can so suck a lemon next time they get high and mighty about what TV shows people watch, unless they get in here and comment and crit. yeah, this is me throwing my toys out the pram but so ****ing what - i want to talk treme.

I like this show, seen both eps.

The violin girl is really cute, and the radio dj guy is my favorite character by far. Well, and John Goodman.

Watched the first episode of this... should probably watch Wire...

Wow, I'm glad I finally decided to check out this thread after ignoring it because you had "from the creator of The Wire" in the title.

This looks like a blast to watch compared to the snoozefest that was The Wire, definitely going to try and see this.

If you thought The Wire was boring (ADD much), you'll probably hate this too.

Second episode was just as good. Really like the entire cast of the show, especially John Goodman and Steve Zahn. And yes, like Vegeta said, if you disliked The Wire (shame on you) then you will probably not enjoy Treme.

How much did you watch of it?

I've only seen the first episode of Treme so far, and after seeing The Wire and Generation Kill multiple times, i'm surprised about how joyous Treme is. It's rad.

And the opening scene is ****ing ace.

play for that mother****in' money

i also don't know how anyone could be put off by something that was under the banner of being made by the creators of the wire. in a time of horrendously stale television, that's a silver lining.

I watched like the first 3 episodes and each one seemed to just drag.

that's too bad, no one gets into the wire on the first three episodes. you need to watch the fourth, when omar starts appearing more, then it hooks you.

I had to pretty much harass all my mates endlessly to get them through the first few episodes of The Wire - these days they're the ones who can't shut the **** up about it. Just think of it as a few hours investment for 60 or so hours of the best television ever made.

The episodes aren't self-contained stories with cliff-hanger endings stringing you along, rather each entire season is one big narrative just broken up into hour long chunks. So the first few episodes are generally there to introduce characters and themes, and it isn't until the middle of each season that the major plot lines come into play. The big payoffs obviously come at the end of each season. David Simon stuff has the tendency to throw the viewer into the deep end from the get go (which I love), but it leaves a lot of people scratching their heads wondering who or what the hell is going on. Treme is no different in that sense. Either you buy into it and soak up the atmosphere or you're probably going to be just as bored.

But yeah - thumbs up for Treme so far. First ep was fantastic, second one was pretty solid as well. Nice to see Fran, Bunk and Lester again as well as brief cameo from another Wire legend in ep 2. Getting some serious Ziggy vibes from that radio guy though.

as well as brief cameo from another Wire legend in ep 2..

yeah haha i lost my shit when slim charles came out of the prison. even though that 1 minute character isn't going to have a roll in the show at all, it's cool to see him make a brief appearance.

fran is also looking ****ing hot as as opposed to her drug addled self in the corner. fuuuuck.

Yeah I watched the first three episodes over a few weeks. Didn't see what was so good about the show. Then the next time I sat down to watch it, i went through the rest of Season 1 in one night. Nine hours of The Wire.

It's a good show.

This show is getting better and better, just like The Wire did.

Scene with Davis and Goodman was awesome, as well as Antoine and the violin girl. Some great chemistry going on.

I love the music in this show. Especially how it's the exact opposite approach to music that Glee takes. Instead of pre-recorded, boosted, tweaked and auto-tuned music, you get what sounds like they recorded it on set in one take using multiple cameras. Ace.

Seriously, this show is like soul food. Don't know if I have chosen the right words.

It's definitely artful, I love that the show focuses mainly on music and musicians, I didn't expect that.

show keeps getting better and better. i'm warming a little more to the pianist, his girlfriend is smokin' too.

nice to see an appearance from prezbo and some more of slim charles as well. wire characters making cameos are always welcome.

I started watching the Wire after hearing you guys rag on about it. Show's awesome. Especially the bits with Omar in it.

Also I like the Stringer character.

Stringers the man. Omar's the bomb. McNulty's.....whatever you get what I mean. The show is indeed awesome.

The only character/characters I hate right now are Marlo and his crew. They seem too bloodthirsty.

The Wire is fantastic. I started watching it in February after hearing so much hype surrounding it over the past few years and whilst I didn't think much of it after the first 2 episodes, eventually I got hooked and ended up watching every season within 2 months. It was money and time well spent, for sure. Afterwards I watched The Corner and Generation Kill which are equally excellent and are well worth checking out if you like David Simon's work. :)

I never saw anything about this show since I cancelled my HBO subscription a while back. Will have to check it out, looks good. And I like the Wire.

pretty certain i saw vernon holly from the wire (homicide detective, beats up bubbles in series 1) standing at the police office in the latest episode. you don't see his face, but there's no mistaking that frame.

i love how every post of mine in this thread is basically calling out my love of seeing wire characters in this show, haha. anyway nah, seriously, i've still the last half of this episode ot watch as i was too tired to finish it last night. brb.
