Transparancy Mod for GravGun

Apologies if this has been raised previously but I think that a mod for the game which makes any object you pick up with the gravgun transparent would be damn useful? It would make aiming those heavy objects at the bad guys a lot easier altho would sacrifice a bit of realism

any ideas? or if this has been raised before does anyone know if there's one in the making?

I think that would unbance the gravity gun, as the drawback from using bigger (heavier) objects is that you have decreased visibilty. At least that's how it seems to me.

I know what you mean.......maybe not transparent but translucent? Heavier objects = denser = less translucent/more solid?

I'd like the object to become like glass when hovering in front of me just so I can see which muppet I'm about to paste with the computer terminal etc

yeah, some light would show through, light being the medium through which we see stuff. Glass is transparent, wax paper is translucent.

Translucent means you can see diffused light through it. So yes, "light would show through".

Also, I don't think it's even an issue of balance. It's just something that they never put in, and probably never thought of. It's probably a good idea, but it would definitely seem weird, and probably a bit out of place.

All I know is that I like it better this way and that I don't want people using it in HL2DM. So go ahead and make it, as long as people can't use it to cheat; seems there's a pretty good deal of interest in this.

I think it would HORRIBLY unbalance HL2DM if they did that. When I pick up a laundry hamper, I think it's an interesting side effect in the gameplay that I cannot see my opponent, and it actually cripples me a bit!

I mean like an official valve release made available to all, or you could restrict it to use in single player mode of course, what was that about a different grav gun where you can lift things and move them with a beam? is that available? did I miss it in the game? man, I sound like a lame c*nt

It doesnt effect me. With a little practice you get used to it.

Yeah... They really should have done something about the Combine, though. It's been some time since we last were ruled by a specimen from another dimension.
