Yeah, these upgrades were nicely thought-out. I am loving the Thief's arrow upgrades personally. Incredibly useful but yes, dropping boxes on skeletons never gets old. I am DYING for the soundtrack to be released though. The voice acting and music are exceedingly brilliant. Replay value for me is also high because I want to take my time and soak-in the beauty of each stage and also get a TON of screenshots!!How you getting on, Victim? I'm enjoying it more and more as each charatcer learns new skills and levels them up. I love the wizard - dropping boxes on ppl never gets old - and the knight's charge move is so satisfying. I've been kicking skeletons into spike traps all morning
So far serious goty contender for me.
Um, don't you think you're calling all that a little too early?I hate to be a doomsayer, but this game looks like it could be ever so slightly boring.
The main thing about the Lost Vikings style of gameplay was that you had all three characters on the screen and you had to juggle where each of them were and combine their powers together. This game quite clearly only gives you one character at any one time, and lets you switch powers. I was starting to see repetitive gameplay before the end of that trailer, let alone playing through the whole game.
Not something I would buy. Would get bored too fast.
Things get more tricky as the game progresses and more involved as you learn new skills. You simply wouldn't be able to manage 3 characters ala Lost Vikings in Trine - the action is too fast and the terrain too perilous. Rather than controlling 3 charatcers, here you're quickly switching between them (almost like changing stance in some fighting games) - mixing up skills and abilities while trying to manage multiple bad guys/traps/bottomless pits. My only criticism so far is that it takes a while to get some of the more interesting skills. The dash/kick move the warrior learns is awesome, as is the ability to pick up and throw huge objects. Add the new weapon he gets (you lose the shield to get this) and his gameplay has opened up considerbly from that seen in the demo - you'll be smashing/blocking/kicking/throwing, and then quickly switching to the thief/wizard and doing all the cool shit they can. If you're prepared to experiment, I don't think repetitive gameplay will be a problem. I do suggest playing on hard, though - the game is to forgiving otherwise.
Trine is possibly - possibly - better than Lost Winds for me, which makes it one of the most enjoyable games i've played this gen.
