Hey, i need to go visit my freind in Canada (i'm from US) and i'm wondering if you need a Passport to get in to the country?

No, just a valid form of identification. Bring a birth certificate along, I think they ask for something like that.

suck, they weighted it and said that it wasn't enough to get me in trouble, so they just let me go through, they also said if i got caught the next time it would be $100 fine, ahah it's a joke compaired to laws in US

We got caught with an eighth. But we got away with 2 they couldn't find. But yeah, don't mess around with the US side of customs. They'll throw you in jail no matter how much you have. No exceptions.
