I got in the Beta and had a good bash. I've taken some screenshots:

It's Tropico alright!

But I feel like it's a "bad" remake. It's exactly the same, in terms of buildings, politics, edicts... even the models of the people are the same. What is new, is the very pretty graphics - but I just get lost in them, I find it hard to see and manage in it. The UI is very basic, it's lost a lot of character and fun/cartoony graphics the original has, all replaced by monotone icons and very small type writer text. It's not enjoyable to use.

Sorry Tropico fans! Stick with the original, as there is nothing new here but some fancy looking trees.

Err, afaik the beta is still under NDA; which means you can not talk about it, nor post screenshots off it.

Has the NDA been changed since I last played?

It hasn't, he is breaking it. I'm also in said beta >.<

NDA breaker! *points*

Sounds a bit of a shame :(

Pfft, NDA.

What I'm saying is that it's a "remake" of the original, everything is the same, that's not something that will differ in full release, unless they completely overhaul it with just a month to go.

So I'm not reviewing it, I'm telling it how it is.

I've been playing a lot of Tropico lately. I enjoy it thoroughly.

Hey, remember when I made that Aion thread?
I was breaking the NDA. Oh noes, what will happen? D:

They are letting him play a closed beta, it's a privilege. It's just courtesy not to break the NDA.

Errr so? If the company have a beef with him that's their issue not his. If the company can somehow prove it damaged them they might have a case against the NDA breech.

Well it's already negatively impacted people's opinions so far...

True, NDA's are generally there for a reason, like them or not =/

Sure. I just dislike it when people get all "oooh he broke the NDA" okay so that matters to you because? Do you work for the company? No? then shut up.

Just to clarify my comment was sarcastic NDA comment earlier was sarcastic :p

Was looking forward to this, sucks if it is going to be just like the first with no gameplay improvements =/

no gameplay improvements =/

Based on these illegal screenshots, it appears that cars will play a factor, given the paved streets. Also looks like the almanac is a bit more organized.

I didn't like the previous game the dev's made so I wasn't expecting anything decent.

I am still rather excited for this despite the lousy comments in this thread thus far. I'll wait for the final build to be reviewed by some other folks or maybe even a demo before I make any decisions this way or that.

Yeah, but there's no paths anymore, just roads.

I hope you're bringing all of your concerns to the attention of the devs as well, Mutley.

Yup, just hit Shift+Ctrl+B in game and I've wrote essays so far. Still playing it.

:/ that's weird.

Then again, I seldom implement paths. It's a bit too much to micromanage, especially when I'm too busy pissing on the environmentalists with my factory spending.

There is still time to change some things from now till the end. Its a shame that I can't enter the beta I've been getting into Tropico lately

How come they invite you and don't invite me!?

It's a shame about the gameplay being the same, but I'll wait for the final build.
