Hey all, I have a problem with CSS.

When I get into the game (or menu) the resolution is 800x600, no problems so far.

But I want it in 1024x748, I have no problems changing it to that.

But the problem is, when I get into the game again it reverts back to 800x600 resolution, and I dont know how to get it to stop doing that.

I origionaly thaught it had somthing to do with my config.cfg, but I cant seem to find anything in that that has anything to do with my resolution.

Thats all I can realy tell you, hope that is enough info.

PS. I have been tweaking my game, but I dont think that would of effected the resolution.

Sorry if this was not the section of the forums to post this message.

Just a thought...you could try changing your windows resolution first, then restarting the PC, changing the resolution in HL/CSS and that might well do the trick. Means living with a bigger resolution on your PC, though.

I have a similar problem.

I've put -dxlevel90 (Or what ever the command is to force DX9) into the start up properties of HL2, DM & CSS. I have an Nvidia 5900 Ultra so it needs to be forced.

Everytime I start one of the games, I have to go into the video settings and set the res to 1280 x 1024, and then the AA to x2 & AF to x8. I think the command I use -dxlevel90 just resets the game to the default settings ie 1024 x 768 no AA and triliner AF.

I'd like any help people can offer to keep the settings once and for all. Can I add more to the start up commands to make sure the settings are started everytime or shall I remove the command, set everything to the level I need, close the game down and then just use the -dxlevel90 in the start up to make the required res, AA, AF and DX9. I'm also gonna post this in the tech help section, but thought I'd keep an eye on this post too

Cheers for any help

Instresting, because I use -dxlevel 81, maby if I remove that it will stop changing my resolution.

Yep, I just checked it and it seems to be the force directx command.

Have you tried changing the settings to the ones you want without the command, then closing down the game. Then readding the command?

I'd try but I'm at work, I'll post the results if you're unable to test. Between us we should get it going.
