Troy: Divine Playground Released

This is god-awful, I can't see how they released this, did they not even play-test it? Just get rid of the whole RTS strategy (That would help the lagging and spawning a total ****ing lot). I wish they would just turn it into an imaginative teamplay game with two teams, one defending, and one attacking. The bots are retarded and lag. They are useless. (I hope you see this, creator of this shitastic mod ;))

You make better?
Cummon, they were forced to release it this early.

They're not going "OUR FANTASTIC MOD IS OUT PLAY IT" They just said: "well it's not finished but we don't have resources to finish it, so you can have what we have done"

And you signed up just to say that? Get out.

It's a shame people shelf mods like commercialized games :( Mod making is a voluntary act. If anything, the creators are generous to devote their time to you. You didn't lose anything by playing this mod (ie money).

If you want to comment on it, do it sensibly and with sensitivity. You can hurt the creators alot by getting aggressive. BarryC, you especially.

How much did you pay for this? Nada.

You got your money's worth.

my opinion:

Gameplay: 3/5
Plot: 4/5
System: 2/5

lets just skip this and get to the point... I didn't like it, from what i used to see during the updates game seemed to be "tighter" but once you play it, you see only an amature would love such a mod makes me think about Pokemon mod on HL1 engine.

Thrown away to the public like a bone to the dogs.

To those who tested it and said it was a good mod... I pray for your souls.

Hidden and Battlegrounds were remarkably less playable then this at release. All the UI is in place, the bots can still fight, only a small amount get stuck at spawn. It's a fun experience, and at least some of the people complaining have no idea how to play or dont try to learn for more than 1 minute.

Battlegrounds yes i accept.

Hidden source, no from the start it had a decent amout of players and was one of the first HL2 mods to be public.

Troy has been released months after hidden source and from the videos and pictures the dev team posted, most gamers were expecting something extrodinary. But once played has you can see here http://steampowered.com/status/game_stats.html only 35 players are playing and the only server with a good ping rate has 16 players above 50% of the game.

Hidden source had more then 100 players at start and still has, meaning gameplay was and still is better.

Hidden Source was nowhere near unplayable upon release.

Honestly what did you expect people? Fine you hate it, understandable it's a dammed alpha, and you are free to critisize it, the fact that it's free does not mean it's above critisizm. It's still competing for our time with commercial games.
But goddammit, the critisizm on the devs is totally unnecesairy. They even said it themselves, it's an alpha, and the only reason they are releasing it is because they do not have time to work on it, thats it. They did not claim it was finished, they did not claim it was stable. They just released it so if someone likes the idea they can fully realize it, instead of beeing selfish bitches.

Stop acting like I'm the only one who criticized it. You know the game is awful at this point and I offered some tips (Get rid of the RTS), if you cannot take constructive criticism, please die.

^^ You're a f##ken retard, hows that for constructive criticism?

For alpha code that was never meant to released, it certainly could be a whole lot worse. Personally, I think everyone should be thankful for the chance to actually play the game. There are many mods that never see the light of day, and I can remember numerous hl1 mods that I would have been very thankful to have given a shot, even if it was alpha code, but never got a chance to since the mod disbandoned and the work got deleted.

If your mod never reached the light of day, it is justifiable to release garbage like this? Please. If your mod never touched the light of day, the game shouldn't be released. It obviously wasn't ready with the numerous glitches and unplayability.

What's all the hubbub about?

The Mod plays fine. Needs fine-tuning, but it is promising.

Wow, I never thought we'd get flammed so much by releasing the mod... we knew it was far from a release version and not polished as a real game would be, but we are just a bunch of students creating our first mod for fun.

With all the hours we put into this its really sad to hear most of those comments. We stopped development in December and were hoping on a team to pick it up but it did not happen. So instead of just throwing it away, we decided to release it and maybe get a few people interested.

I'd like to thank the people who did not flame us on the first occasion and understand what creating a mod implicates. Its cool to see some people are enjoying it =) we actually had a lot of fun when playtesting during the last few weeks of development :p

Just like to add to what Gus said. These guys worked very hard to get the mod to the state that it is in. Keep in mind that it is a full conversion, which requires an extraordinary amount effort. You should at the very least appreciate the fact that the TDP developers sacrificed so much of their time to bring you what is now available. Also understand that the reasons why most of the original Devs, including myself, cannot continue working on this mod is because we are now working in the game industry full time. Everyone else has moved on.

To those who condemn the mod, I challenge you to join the team (if you are qualified) and finish what we started. You can see the game has a lot of promise. So, make the game into what it was supposed to be. If not, then at the very least criticize respectfully.
