Trying to separate out the stuttering problems

It looks like there are at least 2 different stuttering/freezing problems. The goal of this poll is to see which problem is more prevalent.

I see stuttering consistently throughout the game.
Not gonna play until it's fixed.
Strangely CS:S doesn't stutter. Only HL2.

I only get stuttering during the autosaves, which lasts several seconds. I guess I should feel lucky that I don't have the constant stuttering, but it's still annoying.

Well I thought you meant that the game stutters almost all the time. but I guess the game is stuttering during auto saves.

Which really sucks. Is there a way to turn off auto saving? What's odd is that it's didn't used to stutter for a long time. Now it it's stuttering. I also stutter and shake (almost freeze) after loading zones. Then it fixes it self and runs fine until it autosaves.

It's really taking away from the gameplay. I am in the section where I am fighting with all the resistance fighters in my squad and it's chugging and chugging. PLUS - anyone else get sick of leading the lemming squadmates who always get in your way in hallways?

Well I suppose this is something that needs to be flushed out. people will figure out the best settings and what not. TWEAK!
