Twin studies suggest homosexuality is biological.

Glirk Dient, it's worth pointing out that several of your sources are not in the least credible sceintific work: they are press releases from anti-gay advocacy organizations, not work published in credible scientific journals.

Yeah...I didn't wanna bother with finding good sources as I wasn't refuting anything. I was simply pointing out that studies on this subject are often very biased as ive seen plenty of scientists say the opposite of what others are.

I turned up this.
http://www.religioustolerance.org/hom_prof.htm

It talks about these studies having bias and how it is very unlikely any studies will be unbiased and accurate. I skimmed through the rest of the paragraphs and it seems to be a good read on the problems of finding an answer to this issue.

so if a woman smell my sweat, she will get sexually excited?

bye bye soap!

You're body releases phermones all the time if I'm not mistaken. Keep that soap handy ;)

And if it doesn't, you're gay!

Wouldn't studders like this mean that homosexuality is a genetic disease and a deformity in the brain thus meaning it can be cured? How would gay rights activists take this iis gay people are cured?

for the record reparative therapy is nonsense, not recognised by any credible medical/psychiatric organization and is actually harmful

American Psychiatric Association had this to say about Reparative therapy:

APA said:
Can Therapy Change Sexual Orientation?

No. Even though most homosexuals live successful, happy lives, some homosexual or bisexual people may seek to change their sexual orientation through therapy, sometimes pressured by the influence of family members or religious groups to try and do so. The reality is that homosexuality is not an illness. It does not require treatment and is not changeable.

http://www.apa.org/topics/orientation.html#cantherapychange

I wouldn't necessarily say it's not changable. Just as somebody can develop a sense for kinky things, such as BDSM which a normal person may be totally turned off by at first, they too can develop a desire for the opposite sex(when they're homosexual). And if they had decided to pursue that primarily, i'm sure they could.

no offense raziaar but I'll take the APA's word for it over yours

oh and no amount of conditioning will make me gay/or anything that I dont want to be

You wanna bet?

The mind can be unravled and rewired if you are subjected to the correct stimulus.

Making someone gay is admitedly one of the harder things to do but eventually you'd fold, even i would after long enough.

yes I want to bet ..how shall we go about proving it? :naughty:

there is no amount of pleading/coercion/torture/prayer/wishful thinking/threatening that would make me gay ..are you suggesting that you could be influenced into switching your sexual preference? if so, perhaps there's more to your sexuality than meets the eye because I know with 100% certainty that I could never find a person of the same sex sexually attractive

I think that many people seem to be missing one important concept:

even if homosexuality IS a choice, there's still nothing wrong with it.

Agreed.

I entirely agree, but it is important that these studies are pointing in the opposite direction. It takes one more weapon from the hands of the homophobes.

Mine isn't 'fact'... it's an assumption that people can shift their sexual orientation with time and the power of lust/thirst for foreign/taboo things. I would never think of myself the type for something like BDSM, and i'm not... but I have no doubt in my mind if I was subjected to the right kind of stimulus that made it exciting and interesting for me... I just may merge into that lifestyle.

However, your point in case... is that your mind is too closed to even entertain the slightest infraction on your sexuality.
