Two Alyx error - please help

during the entanglement chapter, right before i go through the double doors where the lights go out and tons of combines come flying in, there is a loading screen. There is already one alyx with me, and when the loading screen is done, another alyx apears, so i now have two alyxs with me, and one of them is unarmed, so she keeps dying too easily and i can't get any further in the game. does anyone know of a patch, fix, or trick to stop this from happening? Thanks for anything you can tell me.

So a heard about this 2 times try to replay entanglement. Isn't that easy solution?

yes, i paid for the game, and yes, i've tried starting the level (or chapter) over again. i even tried un-installing and reinstalling the game...nothing works.

any other ideas?

we had this problem too (my wife had this bug) she eventually trapped the unarmed alyx somewhere and continued on. i think its pretty hard to do, but it will let you go on if you can stop one of them from following you.
